  1. One of the purp plums; Another; This one had definate signs of die-back; As i say, the apples seem similar but i dont seem to have any pics of them:blushing: Any clues?
  2. Been to price a job today and the customer asked me to have a look at all the trees on the property. Very wide variety of species that mainly look healthy apart from, Plums (green and purple), apples and cherrys. All appear to have a reduced amount of leaf. I`d be grateful of your opinions, hope you can see from the poor pics from my phone! The worst cherry; One of the better cherrys, but with an amount of yellow leaf; Green plum; More to follow....
  3. Just a thought, can your timber supplier not offer a price with transport included? If he has transport, it is very likely to be cheaper than using hired in haulage.
  4. Nice old bus! A land rover only becomes a "landy" when it has a story with it. Great!
  5. Recently i have been running the same as Huck, my groundy can do all i ask of him very well, he is happy too! I do have a guy i can call on when i need a sawing groundy, but you can usually get by well without. I believe its well worth looking at the issue of staff doing what they can well, rather than doing allsorts not so well. I also believe that should i decide to give my groundy a saw, he will be taught from scratch, basic maintenance as Nige says, sharpening etc before he gets the saw in his hand. If he doesnt want to do it, thats also fine, we will carry on as we are! Every person in the workplace should be able to carry out his work competantly and safely. Therefore a saw operator sharpening his own saw, on site, is a must, otherwise he is not a saw operator is he?
  6. Sod the tiles, think i`d be more worried about scuffing a rope:scared1:
  7. Yep, sure looks like a Superwinch husky. I just got hold of a second hand one also- said to have a small electrical problem I am just about to take it out of the bumper so i can paint the bumper, so if you like i can take some pics of the wiring as it should be, if that helps?
  8. Nice to watch, confident climber with a lot of control. Nice to see a big top come off and hardly kick the stem.
  9. Looks nice work Mac, as the others have said, right decision, keep it monitored and tell the client "the risk has been reduced but as with any tree there are never any guarantees"
  10. How it worked for me was, let the animal see you doing it.............Lol:001_tongue:
  11. Before anyone asks, the last two weeks have been hard work, there has been much frustration and even embarrassment trying to encourage her, but, i must add, there are NO pictures, Sorry. Glad to say it was worth it, we got there in the end.
  12. We finally got there lastnight though:001_smile: This was Pip swimming like a good one with Snoopy. Once she got the hang of it, i could hardly keep her out;
  13. This was the scene of a desperate man about two weeks ago! I managed to get Pip a bit further in, but this was the most swimming she did;
  14. Ok Dagmar, where did you hide the camera- ive looked, cant find it anywhere! At least im famous now:001_smile:
  15. At least you got a good saw going from it mozza, just raggin you:001_cool:
  16. Damn Huskys, just too reliable! Thought he might have been tempted by an offer of cash, but hey! I once saw one run over by a volvo loader, every panel was bust or bent, it started first time:scared1:
  17. Would be very unlikely that they would report you, and i doubt they would want you to drop some load in their yard. The onus is put on you as you are obviously made aware of your own overloading. The ministry can, and do sometimes inspect weighbridge tickets. As i believe, most weighbridges only have registration marks on the tickets(unless it has changed recently) and therefore there is little chance the ministry would know the gross weight of the vehicle, unless they checked with DVLA. Sometimes the ministry also await vehicles leaving bridges.
  18. Sorry Nige, thought i only knew one robbo, just know john as, well, john:blushing: Yeh me and john worked on same farm before i went self employed. Think he is SE now himself game keeping isnt he? John is once met never forgot, if you see a landy coming puffing smoke, and a pair of specks above a birdsnest behind the wheel, its him:001_cool: Nice to find you on here Nige, and hope work is keeping you busy.
  19. If all else fails, i`ll beat bobs bid with £80:001_tt1:
  20. I recon its coz youve got that dewalt bag full of Yorks stone butties:sneaky2:
  21. Cheers, was in Sutton village, and Hull City Council. You know the area? Think it would have been more straight forward if it was East Yorks. HCC always seem more reluctant to lose a tree at whatever cost, but then again they dont have that many:scared1:
  22. Recon it was because that old hemp rope had rotted after 60 years:sad:
  23. Managed to slot it down the ten foot but needed new pants after:scared1:
  24. Too right Mac, needed a bit of confidence in the(rotten) hinge as i felled it along the ten foot. Just about as scary as seeing the extent of the decay once its on the floor, knowing i just climbed it and removed the side limbs:ohmy:
