  1. Tut! While you macho saddo types have been bickering, ive been reading a very interesting link:scared1: Thanks for that Thia, all i need to do now is go and impress the wife with my knowledge:sneaky2:
  2. That is some serious talent you have Tommy. You got any more pics of your work?
  3. Martyn, are they not a rip off of the all American RedWing?
  4. No problem jim, i used to be in agric so i know how much pressure there is at this time of year! As for the harness, there is always APF next month, should be plenty there. Cheers for offering anyway.
  5. Many thanks for the day to all who were involved, especially Pete and Dean for organising it. Was a great chance to put names to faces and meet some old ones too! There was also a good exchange of info, skills and practices, so a big:thumbup: Great to see everyone enjoying themselves in a relaxed atmosphere, I know my groundy Tom certainly enjoyed himself! Many thanks again.
  6. Sounds great Pete, I know its short notice, but is it ok for my young groundy to come? He would really like to have a go at climbing........but dont worry about extra food, i dont feed him either!
  7. Yeh, i know where your at ed, but different customers reguard it differently, you can usually suss out how particular they are by scanning round the garden:sneaky2: Like you say i believe our "trade" is still about the tidyest there is. In fact you would think some of these builders etc dont even own a sweeping brush!
  8. But thats it Ed, no need to leave the site a tip! I have a regular customer who is a retired vet, never done any work at home himself, always gets tradesmen in. He regularly comments to me that he has never had anyone tidy up like me, or care for his property like i do. This customer never asks for a price first, and i get enquiries recommended from him at least once a month.
  9. Fair point andy, i see what you say about saleability, i guess if it doesnt make it sell better, i could take it with me anyway!
  10. Ed, do you have any idea how pellets compare pricewise to other fuels? i.e. £per calorific value?
  11. I think there is going to be many people in the same situation soon Andy. I, like you am interested in moving to a more rural place for work purposes but it looks unlikely until the present financial climate changes. Until then i am interested in installing a log stove in the garage, and piping it into the house central heating, and keeping the present boiler as backup on thermostat. I need to look into this option to see if its worth doing in the relative short term, but i feel if fuel prices do keep rising, and we do move it should make the property more saleable.
  12. Todays weather, at least the fish dont mind; There is much more to me in this pic than just two dogs stood on a hill; My daughter and neice;
  13. Mmmm, just thinking the same:001_tt1: I have been out and done an £80 gum though!
  14. Recon he will be havin a larrrff! Might be worth bidding, if you get it, turn up with a loader, heap it up and set fire to it, then watch his face:001_tongue:
  15. Thanks Jim, that will be great. The main concern i have is getting my legs in the cups:blushing: Guess all will be revealed on the day, cheers.
  16. Have tried lots over the years, depends on how much off road, what you are towing etc. Been running my td5 on its origional spec Avon Rangemasters for a while now, seem to be ok all round. Think they are about 60% off road, 40% road. Doing good mileage also. Have run marshall tyres on cars before now, they seem good for the money. I would say at the better end of the budget tyre market.
  17. Ive been looking at getting a new harness in the next few months, and Pete says the new EKN Kolibri is good for big lads, so, if anyone has one, any chance of bringing it so i can try it on?
  18. Oops, sorry dean for derailing...... Thanks for taking the time to do the bit of educational, I certainly didnt realise MEWPs were so unstable!
  19. Just drove through there last night nige and spotted Lidl, you know, windows blacked out, doors locked, not stopping at red lights............
  20. Think i recognise your pic nige, is it on Bev road/ Clough road junction? Must have been a good size pop, the remaining trees are around 50 foot there.
  21. I stand corrected! So the braided bit i saw isnt the actual bridge then? Definately looks harder wearing.
  22. That is only the outer sheath, its not load bearing so I wouldnt say it should fail. BUT, the sheath cannot be replaced as its stitched into the load bearing part. All that said i saw the newer version only yesterday, and it doesnt have a sheath but looks hard wearing. Personally i dont like the idea of it being covered anyway, makes it a little difficult to inspect correctly!
  23. Sounds like now would be a good time to give you an offer for the old girl then?
  24. Nice pics ben, always a pleasure to work at a property like that. I recon the ash is doomed though, those mushrooms at the base look nasty:001_tongue:
