  1. I don't climb so mine is in my trouser pocket, and as the ganger on site I have been known to blow it once or twice a year just to see what happens! then I thank god it wasn't for real as the numpties are still feeding the chipper!!!! Cue a good rollocking!
  2. initial thoughts, Tipping ram is tiny! and they really needed to find someone that could actually mig weld alli neatly! the standard of fabrication work was shocking!
  3. Sorry Adam not quite correct, If you look closely at 300TDI and TD5 the 110's that LRSV produce for the utility companys at 3500kg you'll also see they have a heavy duty chassis, there is extra plating in the chassis, the rear cross memeber is also of a heavier construction. I'm not sure about a new puma HD110 I will look under the one at work on monday. But I have to friends with Ex utility 110HD's ad they have the beefed up chassis.
  4. You also need to prove to the authorities via bank statements you have had XXXX amount in your bank account for so long prior to recieving the o licenece to. To be honest if I was going down the O licence and operating centre route I would agree with Peter and go for something bigger than 7.5tonner.
  5. I still cant understand whay people moan about the turning circle of a 130 they just need to learn to drive properly I can get my 130 with a chipper anywhere anyone can get a tranny and chipper.
  6. If you are going to do C then C+E bin the highway code and go and buy the CD rom its about 25 quid but you can take as many mock theory tests as you like. it worked for me. matt
  7. theese rules have been in since 1997 chances are they didn't really understand them! alot of people still dont or they were going to put you through C+E which is two test that would have given you B+E confused yet? I was for about 5 years!:laugh1:
  8. Not strictly true sorry. Passing a cat C test (old class 2) still means you can't tow a trailer over 750kg! it does not give a B+E entitlement. your options are B+E test and a couple of days training circa £500 Cat C1 test to drive a 7.5tonner needs a medical, theory hazard perception and CPC tests and training circa £1500 all in (still cant tow a trailer!) Cat C test You can do this straight from B once you have had a medical and taken theory and hazard perception tests + CPC tests and training £1600ish you can drive a rigid vehicle without weight restriction and a trailer upto 750kg Cat C+E test allows you to drive anything including an artic but you need to do Cat C first and all the associated tests the C+E training + test will probably be about £800 on top of what cat C cost you. So the options are B+E for less than 500 quid probably or go the whole hog and spend about 2.5k and be able to drive almost anything. Whichever you do both wil help your CV one perhaps more than the other! goodluck
  9. yep I have been, its a good set up, some of the self employed instructors they use are top people to learn from, however I can't help but feel TKF concentrate on utility and big national organisations than the smaller outfits! I am just watching said episode on demand now havent got to the TKF bit yet.
  10. an otterbox is great to keep a blackberry or Iphone clean and scratch free during arb work!

  12. arnt most Deutz engines air cooled?
  13. I used to business bank with HSBC, 10 years ago it was great they had a business account manager in every branch, ours was a top bloke I used to have a direct dial straight to his desk he was amazingly helpfull. They also used to have a paying in machine on the outside wall so I could swing in the market place at silly am and drop cheques off with the landy and trailer. Then one day they made the business manager redundant and we only used to get phone calls from the business support desk located in islamabad or somewhere equally as far flung when they wanted to sell you something, then to top it off they removed the paying in machine and everything had to be done inside the branch between 9 & 4.30 monday to friday! I closed my HSBC business acount this year and wont be going back!
  14. where abouts in leicester and how many logs are we talking about?
  15. yes peter i will cos its lighter! happy days!
  16. then it was decided while the body was off we would replace the rear cross member as it wouldn't have lasted much longer and it seemed to be worth doing while access was so easy. I also decided the exhaust needed modifying as when the log splitter is on the back exhaust gases were lingering near the operator so the tool box was moved back 6 inches to make way for a vertical exhaust. this is something how it looks now
  17. Ok time for an update nothing stays the same for long! I had long been getting sick of the pick up back on the 130 as it was a tad restricting. I decided i needed a dropside body but not a tipper as I never carry chip and if i was to tip logs out I then only have to pick em up off the floor! An ebay search an a trip to leeds turned this up for not a lot of money, it was off a 55 plate transit and was just like a big meccano kit so was fairly simple to dismantle. then it was time to remove the existing landrover tub with the help of a few bits of wood and an extra pair of hands. this is how we suspended it to roll the vehicle out. remember this tub had a steel framed tool locker in it so was very heavy which is why we didn't just grab an end each and walk it off. then it was time to start offering up the bits to decide how to build the new body
  18. Our loader at work is lolered and all its attachments are lolered too. The winches are done as well due to the explanation of the firm thjat if we are winching up a bank we could be seen to be lifting by some one else's interpretation so to cover their backsides they have the winches inspected too.
  19. anyone know the price per tonne for ally at the moment?
  20. the wheel chocks dig into the ground, if it pulls the vehicle and chocks we just get the heavy mob in with the tractor winch!
  21. for many reasons peter, mainly because if doubled up we can have 8 ton pull, so the theory is we could actually cause damage to the vehicle/chassis if it was anchored from the back. the towbar is designed for just that towing so we have no more rear facing attachments. if we cant pull it out with the wheel chocks holding the vehicle then its game over and fetch a tractor. thats the delights of working for a h&s obssessed outfit
  22. we are catagorically not allowed to anchor our landys back to something when winching for many a reason. We have to use wheel chocks that dig in the ground I'll take some pics tomorrow if you want.
  23. no it was a Fassi shrek! clean ya glasses lol!
