  1. I am a tight git but if my money goes to any charity its the air ambulance they are worth every penny.
  2. just out of interest has any of this work been negotiated with the local land owner?
  3. Leicestershire Fire & Rescue have quite a few trained in CS units its not uncommon to see them in the local Arb supplier!
  4. I agree entirely Peter!
  5. Nene Valley just buy the bodies in and fit them, then charge a high price for the finnished vehicle. There are tipping bodies and tool boxes out there the same quality and much cheaper and you can fit it yourself its 4 bolts and two wires!
  6. Right here goes, You will find if you talk to the EA you can burn up to 10 tons on site each day if it doesn't cause a neusence, also it needs to be on site not back at yards. The EA do have qualified climbers I was talking to one on Thursday they are just not in every region. The reason being some area managers got very concerned after the incident John mentioned, There are many EA guys that would love to be climbers. Contary to popular belief the EA use lots of contractors ask any lads that work for OPS they will moan about it! As for the use of an excavator mounted shear, we'd need to see pics of site to see why they choose it, but we have used one when coppicing on steep slippy banks isn't safe for a ground operator. a machine coppiced some willows for us last year and to be honest it would be hard to tell now as they are back stronger than ever. Yep I work for EA ops delivery you'll find most of us guys want to do a good job, be qualified climbers etc but we have to work within some of the strictist H&S in the country not all of it being practical, popular or sensible! The work should have also had a full conservation survery by trained people prior to commencement. Bat surveys and newt surveys are often carried out.
  7. If you want a landy go for it! don't let anyone talk you out of it, just remember its an addiction!
  8. why not just undo the two bolts and and take the ball off the tow bar, a new ball is only a tenner from halfords so you can tow other things for a week or two, if you need the trailer again just back up to it and bolt it back on!
  9. Er yes more or less I belive Iveco have some sort of tie in with Santanna now.
  10. I'll echo all the above, I used to work for this LA's Country parks service and we worked a lot with their tree team top blokes. I then went for an interview for trainee tree surgeon 3 and a bit hrs that lasted with practical tests!
  11. Thee little lad on my avater is my friends little boy, I gave him the toy stihl and an old stihl helmet, shortly afterwards one of his mates broke the visor and muffs off, Connor told his mum until he had a new helmet he couldn't use his saw! I got dispatched to the AA trade fair to buy a brand new helmet thats never seen any proper work!
  12. A land Rover can legally tow 3500kgs but as said earlier it depends on trailer nose weight as well. worst case scenario is you can get a 100kg payload on that trailer behind a landy best case 2000kg to show it behind a pickup is slightly mis leading.
  13. if I had 10k and a shed load of time to waste I'd have a fastow skeleton trailer with hiab and that meets C&U regs designed and made that would hopefully be lighter to start with, to give more payload. but I wouldn't buy that ifor!

    4X4 Advice??

Only 20mpg when towing a ton Yikes! Look at the later ford Rangers I think 05 is late enough to get the newer engine ones.
  15. LOL yes Ed it is but it would also be very easy to make the whole dam cab 6" wider do away with thoose silly wheel arch eyebrows and have some extra cab space but land rover don't see things like we do!
  16. cos the tdv6 won't physically fit without a complete front end redesign!
  17. ah so thats what your after a kids harness! if only the top post had said that LOL!
  18. Oh no it wasn't! It was in mine first!:fight: LOL
  19. To do that here you'd have to call into 6 stations, ambulances come from as far as 15miles here, and we arn't in the sticks.
  20. Hi Ben, Google Sentri tool vaults they are much better than the Van/site vault range, AS for the big box, they are really good til the buggers turn up with a hiab and have that away as w ell, it happend on one of our sites in 07!
  21. er in a word No! he came up with all sorts of crazy ideas though!
  22. I use Fuch chain oil from my local ag supplier, petrol & deisel comes from Shell garage as they are usually just as cheap as tesco. don't have a problem filling combi cans as i mix 10 0r 20 litres at a time in jerry cans.
