I have just ordered a black berry curve but have also added an otterbox to the order. They are a very robust case and are dust and water resistant.
  2. search for stanley Hydraulic tools. also look on ebay they crop up abit on theretoo.
  3. suprised it's lasted 9 months! Our Gandini shreader was rubbish from day 1 everytime it left the yard a fitter went with waiting for the inevitable breakdown. I wish ours had self destructed many moons before our gaffer finally saw sense and got shot of it!
  4. EA is only in England and wales its SEPA ove the wall in bonnie Scotland.
  5. If David is buying new he could spec the HD Chassis on a 110 as the electricity boards do their 110's run at 3500kg gross.
  6. David, My other point about a 130, don't listen to people that say they are harder to manouvere than a 110 yes they are longer but you soon get used to it. I can put the 130 and trailer in places some people can't even park the 110! you get used to it! Let us know how you get on!
  7. Right here is my two penth for what its worth! Don't buy a 110!! the 110DC is useless as an arb vehicle the pick up bit is too small do you really wanna be taking the 3' bar off the 66 to get it in the landy?! get a 130 and I would then have a back built by N&J Aluminium to suit the kit your cvarrying. Chip then goes in an Ifor williams tipper. If you want a tipper on the 130 thats cool just don't expect to carry chip and tools as they normally only carry about 900 kilos. As for winches if its going to be used for wind blown and rigging work regularly forget Electric! Take it from some one who winches day in day out PTO or Hydraulic is the only way to go, If you just want to winch go for the Superwinch H14 PTO. Tyres wise ditch thoose mich Xcls and go for BFG Mud Terrains there road manners are very good the set I run now are on 50k and they are not looking like needing swapping in the next 40k. You could go for AT's but sods law says that one night on a call out you'll park on a verge and with weight and a trailer on you won't get off again! with Mt's you'll make a mess but you'll be back in ya pit, rather that waiting for a second vehicle to give you a tow. LR special vehicles are the best but be warned they are very very very expensive you may be as well to speak to Bristor at Stafford they kit out our works motors we supply them with a bare vehicle and they do the rest. its cheaper and they do all the utility company Landys these days too, Other options worth considering an Eberspacher diesel burning heater keeps the rover nice and warm and helps dry out wet people and crew. While your looking at Eberspacher then look at the handwash units too they are great for cleaning hands before breaks. Oh one word of warning if you do look at Bristor and look at roof racks don't go for their easy load jobbies they are a pina in the back side. Hope that helps but at the end of the day its only my oppinion and it differ from every one elses!
  8. what a coincedance myself and my girlfriend have been on the H4H website tonight creating an order. Well said Dean lets hope Wotton Basset does get the regocnition it deserves.
  9. Yeah on the whole there not a bad bunch, Chris has been a bloody good mate for nearly 10 years now. Hope you get your HGv this year too its proving a bumpy road with the bloody idiots in the training dept, I am really pissed off I am not about on Tuesday now, If I'd known you were coming down I'd have changed days off (girlfriend would be well Impressed LOL!)

The trucks have been my project with the gaffers, they have helped us get noticed better, but the drying rooms are pants if the driver is taller than 4'! can't get the drivers seat back far enough and as for the poor sod sat in the back seat its like being in a prison van!

Let us know if your down our place again and I'll be sure to be about, its dead easy for me the depot is in middle of my patch!

  10. Bugger!!! saw the odd landy in the car park, Just assumed it was one od derby's! I had a half day holiday today. And guess what I am off on tuesday too. God dam it! It would have been good to meet up.

Hope our lot treated you well? how are you finding the EA

  11. not really I'd never buy a Husqvarna saw for myself, My employer supplies Hukey and comparing a 346 to a 357, a 346 isn't a bad little saw. I just hate the plasticky feel and construction of huskeys.
  12. I hate husqvarna saws with a passion, but Work's national supply contract is with them and I have to use them. That said the 346 isn't a bad little saw i prefer mine with the 13" bar I've ran mine every day for 6 months and had no problems at all. My current one hasn't got heated handles but I'd definitly pick that option if i could.
  13. In my oppinion a 90 hardtop is completley useless work vehicle in arb, You cant expect to carry combi cans etc in a hardtop and not smell fumes. If you go for a 90 pickup then the cab will be so small your lunch box is getting wet in the back! If you buy a 90 hardtop with no rear seats then you can only carry 1 front seat passenger. Have you driven a 90 & a 110? a 90's road handling and driver comfort isn't as good as 110, the shorter wheelbase and lighter truck make for a very bouncy ride. and if you don't like 110's you won't like the next suggestion a 130!
  14. sounds to me like you need a defender 110 doublecab pick up with a secure load area. Its got forward facing seats for the kids is far more comfortable to drive than a 90. something like this, 2003 Land Rover Defender 110 Double Cab TD5 Pick-Up on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Jun-09 10:36:52 BST) not the finest example but you get the jist.
  15. What even the washing up??!!

    HGV c1+e

You need to pass cat C1 or C first and then C1+E or C+E. To be honest it makes far more sense to do C+E as you pay an instructor the same amount regardless and it won't cost much more for an artic. It will also make you even more disirable to prospective employers. Good Luck
  17. I am sure your right Peter, as can the Hilux & Land cruiser amongst others
  18. It only has to be a digital tacho if the vehicle was first registered after may 2005 or was it 2006, if it was before that it can still have an analouge united fitted. It is very possible to have a digital tachograph fitted to the new 07 defenders, I have a friend who fits tachos and he spent a long time with VOSA and Land Rover UK in birmingham coming up with an approved solution. Alltruck in Leicester http://www.alltruckplc.co.uk/pages/default.aspx or 0116 232 5800 carry out installations for most of the land rover dealers in the midlands It is true that Nissan and Volkswagen amongst others are having issues with digital tacho fitting.
  19. sorry huck I just think short mogs look silly for some reason, like short landys they just look wrong!
  20. Marc, That mog looks so much better than those daft looking SWB things! Great kit.
  21. I agree to a point, but in 1997 both Ifor Williams and Indespension both listed the implementation of tacho requirements on all their brochures, all the Land rover magazines covered it, as well as truck magazines also i have driven many new 4x4's registered on or after 1/1/97 lots of those have stickers on the sun visor advising tachos might be needed. it can't be covered every month incase just 1 person reads it. Only a couple of months ago it was re covered in a 4x4 magazine about the tacho situation. It has also been covered on here a million times before. IMO people need to take responsibilty for their own actions and that of their businesses. A tacho to tow a trailer aint a big deal nor is it expensive. I am sure you'll agree Peter running a wagon legitamatly is far more expensive and time consuming with O licences, driver training, tacho's 7 weekly inspections etc etc but if its what you need/want you have to get on with it, and thats what should be the case with tacho's in 4x4s.
  22. I am going to vent some frustration now! The fact of the matter is, Since 1997 its been the law that if you tow commercially and go over a GTW of 3500kg then you need a tacho thats the last 12 years! In my honest opinion it is the DRIVERS responsibility to ensure that the combination he is driving is legal. If that means you have to spend a few hrs surfing the net ringing VOSA etc thats as may be, lots of us have already had to do it. Ignorance is no excuse to break the law. Ok a tacho ain't the cheapest thing but at the end of the day it ain't the most expensive bit of kit you'll ever buy. Keeping drivers records isn't hard either. If you want to know the rules and exemption Contact VOSA asking for a copy of "Driver's Hours and Tachograph Rules for Goods Vehicles in UK & Europe" ISBN 0-11-552813-x Rant over.
  23. Point to note, VOSA are not the only people able to prosecute for not having a tacho, the boys in blue can too! I know a few people that have been stopped by the police in 4x4's towing commercially and ben told to get one. So the weekends are not that safe.
  24. I doubt it very much!!!!!!!! but budget on around 800 quid for a tacho installation probably more!
