  2. LOL!!! you worried mate?! how's the landy now?
  3. hope he makes a good recovery very sad indeed, i for one allways donate to the air ambulance it really has to be our best hope for anyone having an accident in this industry.
  4. Jim is right I forgot about the Goldfish range, had a demo at the Billing show very good value for money.
  5. simple reliable and strong good value for money and well respected is the Superwinch Husky. I wouldn't touch a Warn for commercial work. Hydraulic and mechanical PTO are easy on a landy but expensive and technical on others.
  6. Nice to see a young lad getting a good crack of the whip. Well done John.
  7. Its so much cheaper when ya mates a Tacho fitter! LOL!
  8. Totally agree bout time there was an alternative to the old boys network that is the NPTC!!
  9. exception that proves the rule? Sills inner wings, B posts seat belt anchor points are all prone to rotting out hence the large amount of cheap vehicles about for donor engines.
  10. May be not the music & dance variety! But Land Rover models are Rot boxes! I'd avoid 200 &300 TDI and look at latest seriesII possible and invest in gallons of waxoil.
  11. I am a Tacho fitted in the Landy in some respects it makes life simpler in that, I can use the trailer for hire and reward jobs and I don't have to worry about KM radius. I'll try and find the document again but VOSA gave me a book that listed Land Rovers as multi purpose vehicles thus needing a tacho but not an O licenc The rules on over 3.5 tonne combinations needing Tachos is now 11 years old now so VOSA are not to sympethetic if your caught without a tacho.
  12. i totally agree chris.
  13. Showing the consequenes of accidents with overweight transits! How long before a chip truck shows up?!
  14. whooops!!!!
  15. yes on the ground with a 066 i'll explain tomorrow its bed tme now!
  16. er no its not niether is a sledge hammer or fencing maul!!! not when he has nearly 1000 posts to put in!
  17. sorry mate i disagree!! seen them at 3 apfs and really don't like them. i much prefer traditional ones though who knows what my mate will build!!!
  18. Thanks Chris think he is looking to build a hydrauic type. I'd be interested in seeing the landy one though!
  19. a mate posted this on Landscaper talk and cos he is scared of this site I said I'd post it here as there are a few engineering bods about Right, I know it's a long shot, but has anyone on here ever made or even used a tractor mounted post driver? One would be really quite handy at the moment, but I can't justify the expense in buying one! And being as I like little projects, I fancy getting busy with the MIG set! Am just lokking for hints and tips though as I want to get it right first time!
  20. niether have I dean but I know that the chances are higher in future of being stopped. Now the EA are taking active roles in roadside checks. As for revenue your guess is a good as mine but it will end up in hm governments bank account to waste not the EA budget!!!
  21. I know of one local skip firm fined 45k for lack of waste carriers licence and fly tipping. also you'll now find a mobile EA office in most VOSA/Police roadside checks along with HMRCE
  22. Thats a tad Harsh! Environmental management team come up with this legislative nightmare. However the Environment Agency has a Lot of lads & Lasses carrying out arb work and flood defence. Who work dam hard out all hrs god sends when this country is flooding clearing trash screens and sand bagging and over pumping and operating flood structures............That'll be the lazy arses of the environment agency will it. Does a favour don't tar all EA employees with the same brush!!
  23. I bought hi vis T shirts so in summer it doesn't matter where I am I only have one layer on and it meets hi-vis requirements.
  24. dean, damar webbing, do wagon straps in 50,75&100mm widths and multiple lengths, google finds em.
  25. width is an issue, but what actually makes a trailer more or less responsive is the distance from the hitch to the first axle on the trailer, the longer that distance is the easier to reverse. Thats why an artic is easier than a tranny & tinnywolf chipper. I do struggle to see how chipper manufturers can make a chipper wider and/or longer without making it heavier unless they skimp on materials elsewhere.
