  1. hammerite do a special primer for galved steel its well worth using.
  2. I used to have, it had 3000 trouble free hrs on it when i sold it. I bulit with the help of the book it was a doddle would buy another tomorrow should the need arise!
  3. and remember to cut buffalo board from the back face when cutting with a circular saw.
  4. Nope could here them this am when working in Shepshed. My Mum and Dad are going though as my Cousion races in one of the lesser races before/after the superbikes. apparently their tickets only cost 15 quid each
  5. PS Marsdens at Nottingham hire a couple of road tow chippers, failing that we have them delivered from Orange Plant if you find anywhere else let us know please.
  6. IT is different if you pass a trailer ttest this year you will have B+E next year if you pass the test it will be BE at present there is no weight limit on trailers so we can tow 4000kg trailer for example a defender rigged for air brakes. If you pass BE next year there will be a weigt limit of 3500kg on the rtrailer regardless.
  7. Ah that explains why my latest email hasn't had a reply, yes had two small boxes made for the 130 to fit under the bed for ratchet straps. very very well made. Richard is a good guy will definatelybe ordering the boxes for our trailer from him.
  8. I found theese people more friendly and cheaper to deal with than NJ and considerably cheaper for the same standard of product Custom Secure Aluminium Storage Boxes from Metallics UK
  9. aah! keep hearing about that Ibex but even after nearly 8 yrs of employment I still haven't been up to Calverton!
  10. Have you been up to Calverton then Ben?
  11. I was playing, sorry I mean training on a McConnell robocut on thursday last week that to is a very capable machine in the hands of a competant operator but by god does it take some getting used to!
  12. Been a member for years, can't fault them! 130 Clutch went one monday am rush hour on the M54, rang the AA patrol their in 20 minutes and within 40 mins I was loaded on a wagon and heading home. another time i was out in dads car again needed relay the wagon was with us in 50 minutes and we were on our way. Driving a landy membership is a must and they are one of the few that will recover the 130 grossing at 3500kg and any trailer its towing.
  13. You going to be bringing your motor to one of the lay by meets this year pete?
  14. Yep use rimmers all the time for LR bits excellent service!
  15. Only yesterday I witnessed a Landy back axle in the air as some one loaded a mini excavator on to a flkat bed trailer they just couldn't be bothered to use the prop stands. Dean, I got a pair of Ifor Williams rear props for 50 quid off ebay and if they are well greased they work very well. I allways spec trailers with pin & eye hitches they are a bit noiser than ball hitches but mutch easier toi unhitch loaded. If i am unhitching in the yard loaded i use a trolley jack to raise the trailer off the hitch and leave axle stands under the front corners of the trailer.
  16. It is definately worth ringing Drake's he ain't a website type of bloke and will probably know where a suitable vehicle is. I don't know what issues Dean had but 3 of my close friends have bought 110's from him and none have been dissapointed. If I needed another Landy I'd call him straight away. You could also contact Marc at the Defender Centre Stourbridge they'll have suitable vehicles they'll be at the dearer end of the scale but they come with a 6 month warranty and I have heard a lot of good reports about his customer service. Somebody said all LWB landy's have a Salisbury rear axle I am afraid this ain't true anymore you need to double check TD5's as my works one a 56 plate has standard Rover rear axle as does the 110DC HD we have on a 57 plate.
  17. I think one with a headstock and adjustment would be a very versatile tool and really good for boggy uneven ground. trouble is I suppose the headstock gear adds weight which will make it unwieldy on a mini digger. Some one else may come along with different opinions to us though!
  18. What make you looking at? we have a PostPuncher at work and in our humble opinion its worlds most awful knocker going! We have a very experianced 360 driver but even he struggled with the thing, because there is no headstock on the knocker just a bracket it seemed to be a constant battle to keep the knocker vertical in both plains which is often not easy as the machine doesn't have the flexibilty in both directions quickly. often requiring turning the under carriage through 180 degrees so the blade was able to alter the angle. thus chewing up ground or endless tracking We did have a set of bosses made for the bottom of the tube to so that when using smaller posts they were centrailised in the tube being hit by the centre of the weight. We have a post puncher now on the tractor loader and that has a headstock and hydraulic tilt left to right and obviously forwards n backwards on the loader its still not as good as a coventional 3pl mounted knocker but is better than the digger mounted one.
  19. I work for a government agency and its in our contracts and its percentaged based over 5 years. Having said that they only really enforce it on the much dearer courses like 360 digger, HGV, etc but if our employer does it, it must be legal!
  20. its quite simple to put a grab and rotator on the backactor of 180 I have seen a couple of ways of doing it. Of course its more of a faff if you want to use the extradig with the grab on as hoses need routing differently etc.
  21. More likely to have all belonged to my Dad Pete!!! He has lost thousands in 25yrs up there! Ben, have you had the 130 sprayed up?
  22. I like thge idea of a smaller kit thats cheaper, i am employed full time but still think it would be a good idea for weekend logging and hobbies in remote areas, My mother in law is a paramedic and when I talk to her about what we do at work and where we do it reality sinks in that we are often a fair few hundred meters off the beaten track in the middle of nowhere and we are kidding ourselves that we'll be responded to within 8-10mins. She also mentions that Celox isn't approved but at the end of the day if it keeps you or your mate alive use the bugger was her advice, One of my biggest bug bears with my employer who is a national government agency that preaches H&S is that we only do a basic one day first aid refresher every 3 years. I was lucky that with previous employers i have done both 4 day courses and ABC response courses and even though both have lapsed I'd still use what I learnt if I needed to! I do struggle with first aid training though! the scenario Andy mentions of a nice warm training room gory pics of wounds etc nearly always makes me feel faint as I am incredibly sqeumish, however when I had to deal with the real mcCoy of a serious head injury from an 066 a few yrs ago it was amazing how adrenalin kicks in and the training comes flooding back!
  23. I've thought about it to, though to be honest it needs to be done better than the one that was at the apf last time.
  24. Another option would be to have a beaver tail landy and put your chipper on the back or have a chipper mounted to a 90! you'll never carry as muh in 3.5ton gross vehicle as you will in your tipping trailer.
