  1. Has to have its own idiot?
  2. The d22 navara between 2002 and 2005 had engine problems. The NP300 is the name given to the models sold after 2008?ish, not too many around but if you find one they shouldn't have the same engine fault as the d22. Nothing wrong with the d40 in my opinion, not had any trouble with mine and it gets overloaded, abused and used as a tow tug. The only issue I have with them is that 4H locks the centre diff do you can't really use it on Tarmac. Same applies to both d40 and d22.

    Red wine

2 or 3 pints of red wine?! Bloody hell you must have a hard head!
  4. Not 100% sure on the legality of loading the trailer to the max with an empty truck, but it is a very bad idea. With no load in the vehicle there is much less traction, increasing the risk of skid and wheelspin. The heavy trailer further exacerbates the problem.
  5. Drivers hours and tacho rules still apply. Tbh if you are only ever towing with the one vehicle I would still downplate the trailer, the way I read the memo if you get pulled they will always weigh the trailer. Its useful for me as I would have to change the weight plate on the trailer every time I changed towing vehicle.
  6. Not considering the d40 navara then?
  7. No. Thanks for all the pms etc, we are now sorted.
  8. Sail makers needle and some whipping twine, do a running stitch and bury the ends in the rope.
  9. I cant open it on my iphone either.
  10. Does it open for you Barrington?
  11. I need either a forwarder with operator, or a forwarding trailer to hire to use with our tractor on a site near honington. Immediate start. Please call me on 07875 386674.
  12. You don't need to downplate the trailer, print off a copy of the letter from vosa in my new thread and keep it in the truck.
  13. Yes, as unlikely as it seems, common sense seems to have prevailed. VOSA now say that you don't have to downplate your trailer to the max towing capacity of the towing vehicle, as it is the actual weight of the trailer that matters, not the plated weight. I will be keeping a copy of this letter in my truck for future reference, as I have a 3.5 tonne trailer that I tow with my Navara (2.6 tonne towing weight) and my 18 tonner (3.5t towing weight), and I dont want to keep swapping trailer weight plates over. VOSA Letter.pdf
  14. That is no longer the case, I have a copy of a memo from Andrew Ball, Senior Traffic Examiner, sent to Ifor Williams in March last year, to say it is the actual weight of the trailer that counts, not the plated weight. When I get chance I will put it up in a new thread.
  15. Nice work, hope you tested it by pulling a big tree over!
  16. With a very long fid.
  17. Same as Amsteel or any other dyneema winch line. 2 points to consider though, firstly you can't knot it, so it would have to be terminated onto a portawrap or similar, secondly it has a very low melting point, so controlling the speed of the carriage under load is important.

    snow

About 4 inches on the ground here.
  19. You can't afford rough hands Rupe, think how many pairs of stockings you would ladder. Heel balm is also good for dry chapped hands.
  20. Here's my fire, all conifer and willow, even my dopey Labrador has had to move away cos it's practically melting the glass.
  21. I don't understand this business about burning with little heat. Comes up regularly regarding poplar or willow or alder or whatever. I'll build a fire out of alder, and you come stick your hand in it and tell me if it's hot.
  22. Apparently there are resistant trees in fowlmere.
  23. Only kind to wear! I'm telling you, the pink pound is the new grey pound!
  24. I like the colour, I'd have my company name done on it in gold sequins.
  25. The Dixon Bate is the best design IMO.
