Whipping is mostly decorative, whip locking includes stitching so it is functional too. Samson instructions are very informative on the subject.

A hedge is only a hedge if it isn't a row of trees.

I asked my TO this question last year, they said anything with a stem big enough to qualify needs a notification, regardless of whether you want to call it tree shrub or hedge. Different TOs may interpret the rules in different ways, but I believe that is the letter of the law.

I meant if they were that size or bigger then you should have notified the local planning authority before removing them.

If the individual stems were greater than 75 mm diameter measured at 1.5 metres above ground level then they would be covered by conservation area rules.

The 3 litre td pulls like a train, the biggest problem is traction, which is solved by filling the chip box up.....

Overhand knot, heat shrink over the whole knot. Or fig 8, or barrel, depending what mood I'm in.

Tubular fids have limited uses, hollow braid yes, and I use the tiny one to hold the crossover together on DB while I'm burying the end of the core, just spiked through.

Yes, you want to extract the core in one go, without pulling strands and disturbing the weave. Easier said than done, but gets easier with practice.

White cab black box looks very smart imo. Unpainted looks smart too, but could present the wrong image!

Hi Vee is a breeze, making split tails is even easier! Some of the Edelrid 16 strands can be challenging though.

I find DB easier than 16 strand tbh, the difference with DB is that you can't really see what your doing until your ready to make the final bury, when it all suddenly becomes clear.

I don't think I would use them in a woodland due to cost, but they are perfect for gardens.

Looking good. Stitching the cross over and keeping the tension on all the time while making the final bury should help to keep everything tight.

Set static line, footlock or srt to anchor point, then set your climbing line and go to work. You know it makes sense!
