  1. Any tree can be climbed, but since it's right next its right next to a Tarmac path why wouldn't you put a mewp on it?
  2. Think you forgot a day at Barcham's in that list David.
  3. Yeah, Arb double braid is very different to sailors splicing. You need to be much more careful with the splice before and during the final bury, some people stitch the crossover together. Also keeping it under tension as you bury it is important.
  4. Try Rob Blake in Bridgwater, he may be able to help you out. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Work the splice back out of the bury. Best case scenario you sort the crossover out, stitch it up tight and re bury it. Worse case it's too knackered from the pushing with a screwdriver and you'll have to chop it off. What type of rope does your brother normally splice? Arb ropes are much tighter than normal double braids. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Burns a treat, nice colours in the flame too. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Grand fir wreck

That's my kind of job, no messing about with rigging, just bash it down. Particularly like the big spear cuts at the beginning. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Not easily as far as I know, the audio system is integrated with the satnav/climate contro, etc and gets very expensive if you start tinkering with it.
  9. No, D22 was engine problems mostly. Early D40s including mine had an issue with the rear axle. Basically a breather would become blocked, and then once it got hot it would blow one of the hub seals out. The axle would then run dry and obviously wear out very quickly. I had the seals done on mine and changed the breathers. Newer models are not affected.
  10. I do a fair number of big journeys, 150-200 miles plus. Did Cambs to south Cornwall non stop in 6 1/2 hours once...... It's not a car and it doesn't ride like a car, but I like the seating position and prefer it to a lot of cars tbh. Mines had a uj, seals on rear axle, and usual brake pads and tyres, but I count all that stuff as normal wear and tear.
  11. I have a 2006, bought it 4 years ago with 40k on the clock, done over 100k in it without any major problems. I do a lot of heavy towing and off road driving, it's not the best off road but it's ok.
  12. I use sticky signs in littleport. Cambs.
  13. Why didn't they wrap the plastic panels? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. So its probably a poplar then.
  15. Because it's 8.30 in the evening and it's pitch dark.
  16. There is a link between allergies and parasitic worms, which are mainly spread by treading in turds.
  17. My missus has been using it for the opposite reason, i.e. to regain weight. She has a demanding job and we have two small children, and she just never got around to eating proper food during the day. Now she can see at a glance what she has or hasn't eaten and compensate accordingly. It appeals to the geeky natured, and it really is illuminating.Whatever you think you eat in terms of overall calories, and how that is split between protein, fat, and carbs, I can guarantee a weeks food diary will show you different.
  18. With the app, if it has a barcode you scan it and it retrieves the info from an online database. With homemade stuff chances are someone will have added it or something similar already, the hardest part is calculating the portion size.
  19. There are some great smartphone apps that you can use to track your food intake, try doing it for a week and see what you actually eat rather than what you think you eat. I can practically guarantee you aren't eating enough protein.
  20. All I can see is a big stack of firewood.
  21. Please digress re difference in working in bc. Are you working longer hours?
  22. You could also use a tennis ball with two holes cut in it, I prefer the less gear intensive solution usually.
  23. You can put it through the IVA yourself, any standard design of tipper body will pass ok.
  24. It's as good as the tyres and the driver. Iv got mine stuck a fair bit, mostly towing a big heavy trailer, but in general it's ok off-road.
