  1. That's really good info, thanks. Reinforces my view that getting a TM firm in is the way to go. The streetworks training is a bit of joke really, I did the supervisors course but it was the same course as the ops, I even did the setting out exercise. they wouldn't give me the ops ticket unless I paid an extra assessment fee, and then tried to tell me that I wasn't qualified to set out, only to supervise someone else setting out........ Most of the TM I do is when we're set up to chip on the road or verge, and put out a simple give and take system on a 30mph road.
  2. Very good question Kevin. On the course I did we only looked at one setup, a 2 way shuttle system with temp lights. I don't own lights and would probably get a TM company in to set that up if I needed it anyway. To answer your question the course is dull because we spent all day covering something I already knew but won't use, and the bits that I did want to learn and asked about the answer was " get the red book and look it up". Tbh I could have bought the book, read it, and saved a day out of work and the course fees, and still learnt more.   4. Do you sell the skidding grapple separately? Ideally with a swivel rather than fixed.
  5. I did the C&G unit 10, so supervisors course. All done in a day, extra written exam at the end but otherwise the same course as the other guys in the room who were doing the operatives unit. Classroom in the morning, setting out exercise in a car park, written test and done for 4 o'clock. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  13. Been very happy with my Navara, had it 4 years with no major issues, average maintenance costs probably £800 a year. If you tow heavy trailers though I'd look at ranger or d max. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. It's one thing to do it quietly out of necessity, filming it and uploading to YouTube is a whole different kettle of fish. Once you put yourself to public scrutiny you can't really complain about the response. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. I know that road well, there is no way I would attempt that. The flooded section of road is getting on for quarter of mile, twisty, quite narrow, with very soft verges and no kerb. There is no way of knowing how deep the water is all the way through from the start, and you can't see how strong the current is either. The driver made a great job of it, in a well equipped vehicle, but he was lucky to make it through without incident. The police could hardly say he was a hero and encourage others to follow his example, even the driver himself said he'd go the long way home.
  16. You can get a short hopper, without a stop bar, with or without a conveyor in the bottom, for grab feeding. Obviously hand feeding that is a no no. The hoppers swap over really easily though, 2 blokes 10 minutes to change, and obviously you can do a bit of crane feeding big stuff into the hand feed hopper if your careful.

  18. Prices start at £1800, your welcome to come and have a look at my truck, been in regular use for two and a half years. The optional extras can add up, but that's the same with any tipper conversion.
  19. Use an appropriate work positioning or fall arrest system, use a 3 way locking hook, LOLER cert within the last 6 months, crack on.

    <p>If you buy a tipper for a ranger, it will fit other trucks, navara, and l200. The newest ranger is a lot bigger though so it probably won't fit that. </p>

  23. Thats exactly how I set mine up, but I never use a visor.
  24. How do you go on with the visor and boom mike? Any conflicts?
  25. Yes, there are sticky pads supplied, all reports say they are excellent. I went straight to drill and bolt, but obviously thats not an option for everyone.
