  1. Stunning views. Nice vid
  2. I will make a couple if I can't find any. The metal tips would be the awkward bit to fabricate
  3. I have some trees to fell on some really steep ground in a few weeks. Does anyone know where I could purchase a springboard? The only time I have seen them used is in timbersports competitions.
  4. Bear - Big fella & not quite a year old. Soft as anything unless you are an unwanted stranger or a cat
  5. Have you all considered the difference between starting a cut one/two handed and finishing it one/two handed? In my mind it is critical to understand where & when the highest incidence of accidents occour
  6. If a tree has deteriorated to such a point, where you feel you need to reduce weight in the structure, then the time taken to remove fluids etc from the limbs etc is time wasted? Surley in that time the condition of the structure will have deteriorated? Thus negating the effect
  7. Nice to see you climbing again. You finished that job for John yet?
  8. It's too old Thea. Throw it out & mix some new
  9. Yes, a few times. Some trees are not fit to climb. Tree work is my living, I don't want it to be my demise.
  10. it looks like a breather. if oil is leaking out i suspect there might be a partial blockage in the oil line
  11. black & white photo's and from late 1800s onwards? perhaps a book called "this was logging" by Ralph andrews.

    step cut

Not only are you rude in your refusal to answer a polite question, but your arrogance and self importance make discussion impossible. I see why Butch banned you from the treehouse. Shame I had a couple of valid points to discuss with you.
  13. Good film. Did you have a youtube link to an old oregon felling video Dave?
  14. Good point, but managing a device for that distance would be hard work.
  15. good idea Pete. If you backed it up with a friction hitch below the device it would be very usable. Takes all the strain off your arms tending the rope into the device & managing the back-up. Same would apply if you used a fig 8 or similar device.
  16. Can no one from Huddersfield punctuate or spell? I must be old, as I cannot understand half of what you are typing. The tree game in this town has always been cut-throat. Certain companies will always keep the price down by providing low pay & working them hard. Nothing ever changes
  17. You look a little scared at the speed of release of some of those cuts. Is a nappy essential?
  18. Why would it? With a simple muffler mod you are just opening up the restricted flow of gasses. Which will actually cool the pot & piston down
  19. I would only ask the girl if she is feeling OK? Any thing else is up to her. Hope your effort is worth it. There is always hope
  20. It was the priest who was holding hands with the choir boy:sneaky2: I looked through my pics and the only demonstration of my cutting I could find for you was this:lol:
  21. And an individual such as yourself would never do such a thing ??
  22. It is me, but would I ever use the bar to slide a chog over a phone wire?
  23. How do you find the grapple on the hiab for lifting timber - in comparison to a hook and chains/sling that is? We have a hook on ours with the reasoning of critical lifting as opposed to rapid handling of volume
  24. Your too capable, I'd expect better:confused1:
  25. Good on your mother for caring. I was genuinely homeless at one point in my life and through the kindness of a police officer lending me enough money to get back to a friendly town I got my life back on track. I paid him back and will be forever in his debt for helping me. However those weeks on the streets (about 7 I think, it was a long time ago) taught me that not everybody there is to be trusted, so along with my admiration , I wish you luck
