  1. Might head down for the day, seems like a day out
  2. Always a good thing to read your cuts. Why not - good idea
  3. Dan did bring it to the fore, but the system has been around for years. If you are struggling for height, you could try micro filament & a smaller bag - I have seen it hit insane height
  4. If a harness has been used for 5 years & in constant use, then in my books it has made me enough money to be replaced. Usable life can be extended on some equipment, but it is in exceptional circumstances in my book, not the norm.
  5. Nice job Tim & loved the reflection off the vehicle - nice touch
  6. Agreed. Training can be too prescriptive & not open peoples to the variations & subtleties that make the job soooooooo much easier
  7. GOL - game of logging is much nearer how things are run here than the other side of the pond. Both have there benifits & both seem to suit the type of harvesting perfectly. I'd not want to work softwoods here in the UK with a full wrap handle, long bar & skip chain, on the flip i'd not want to fell a massive cedar with a 346. Nice to share the knowledge
  8. Nice pics & some nice chippers
  9. Sorry to hear your sad news. I also have lost close friends on motorbikes
  10. The "fans" that fit on the rotor are balance pairs I seem to remember. With TW's having bearing as robust as cream cheese, I would do anything to look after them & fit new suitable parts
  11. For static lifting, why not. It Is not for dynamic work
  12. Krab & the tail end of your life line
  13. From Petzl; http://www.petzl.com/files/fckfiles/image/news/pro/2013/zigzag/ALERT-ZIGZAG-EN.pdf?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=petzl-page&utm_campaign=zigzag%20alert&utm_content=en
  14. Clocks move clockwise & if not counteracted could stop the balance & rotation of the planet
  15. Outstanding dean
  16. Less is more. I will leave you to kill your tree in 500 hundred cuts, whilst I safely remove mine in 200
  17. Hate them with a passion - learn to stack decent plastic wedges
  18. A fall exerting 15kn on the zz eye (30kn on the anchor point & climber) would do so much internal damage that gear failure would be the least of your worries
  19. The krab supplied with the HH is integral, as the body of the device is designed to fit & secondly it is steel, which is more abrasion resistant & dissapates the heat generated far better. As for the gate, is the krab clean & functioning OK?
  20. They work well. You have to remove the lever & the cam to fit it I seem to remember.
  21. The failure looks like a fracture. No signs of deformation of the material below the break point. Must have been been brittle & perhaps subject to torsional stain. It will be interesting to see what petzl make of it
  22. Do you cut softwoods or hardwood timber mainly? I ask because by UK standards - i.e cutting mainly hardwoods that is alot of bar for the saw. Work runs a 395 on a 28" as standard to compare
  23. For those who wish to inspect there zig-zag, here is the Petzl instructions on how to do so. ZIGZAG-PPE-Inspection.pdf
  24. Not sure Maggie was a worthy human being either:sneaky2:
  25. I may have no respect for Maggie personally
