Imagine being born in 1900.

When you are 14 years old World War I begins and it ends when you are 18,
with 22 million dead.

 

Shortly after the world pandemic, Spanish flu killed 50 million people.

You get out alive and free, and you are 20 years old.

 

Then at the age of 29 you survive the global economic crisis that started with the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange causing inflation, unemployment and hunger.

 

Nazis come to power in 1933.

 

You are 39 when world war 2 begins
and it ends when you are 45 during the Holocaust (Shoah), 6 million Jews die.

There will be a total of more than 60 million dead.

 

When you are 52 the Korean war begins.

When you are 64, the Vietnam war begins and ends when you are 75.

 

A baby born in 1985 believes his grandparents have no idea how hard life is. 
 

A boy born in 1995 and 25 today believes it is the end of the world when his Amazon package takes more than three days to arrive or if he doesn't exceed 15 likes for his posted photo on Facebook or Instagram...

 

In 2020 many of us live in comfort, have access to various sources of entertainment at home and often have more than needed.

But people complain about everything.

 

They have electricity, phone, food, hot water and a roof over their heads.

Previously things were a lot less comfortable, but humanity survived much more serious circumstances and never lost the joy of life.

 

Maybe it's time to be less selfish, stop whining and crying 👍

The Department for Work and Pensions has reported £87.9m in NI liabilities over incorrect IR35 assessments.

The Department for Work and Pensions has reported £87.9m in NI liabilities over incorrect IR35 assessments.

 

Unbelievable but nothing surprises me with Hmrc any more. It’s strange that when it’s public sector we the taxpayers pick up the tab, when it’s private sector as in my case it’s the responsibility of the individual to sort out any shortfall as the directors of the company and agency concerned swan  off after saving millions by avoiding employers NI contributions.

The problem has always been there, but has been masked by having access to a European labour force. The problem is that we don't have the staff in the UK. Brexit has exposed this.

Cheap European labour has caused the problem, not masked it.

3 years in now, on my 3rd different inspector with a 5 figure accountancy bill never mind the disputed tax figure itself . Meanwhile the agency and company directors/owners whom we worked for on the scheme and tax set up they stipulated are totally in the clear.

Nightmare position to be in. I got pulled 7 years ago and they went through the lot.

Perhaps the lure of cheap foreign labour should never have been allowed to be danged in front of them? Businesses will always look at the bottom line as opposed to following a moral compass. Do you think companies would follow the Minimum wage laws if they where removed? Of course not. Where we not to have have the EU thrust upon on Id suspect we'd not be in the situation we are now. 

 

25% increases in the catering industry is a start, as is seeing trades commanding £250-£300 a day wages. I'll hazard a guess that the buying power of these wages will be akin to what a tradie was on, and what he could buy on his wages before the mass influx of cheap labour, ie a home going back to being 3 x their yearly wage. 

 

Inflation is skyrocketing on a global scale, not just in the UK. 

 

Time to invest in Gold again :D
