Steve is right I’m afraid

Cropper and yourself seem to have taken this to heart big time, draw a line under it you have your opinion I have mine keys leave it that.

When it comes to it, this was your response to Cropper's explanation of how his wife suffered and continues to suffer with the after effects of having Covid:

"I keep hearing these examples on this Forum of this fit one and that healthy one who had it and are still floored by it etc etc , whilst I’m not deriding people’s own experience   or saying this is not the case this is most certainly not my experience or the experience of those who have had it that I know. There are some on here claiming to know literally  dozens of people whom have had the virus and it’s invariably a horror story. Big J quotes confirmed statistics. The  symptomatic people I know young and old described either very little or moderate to bad Flu like symptoms 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️I’m no Doctor or expert but this rollercoaster of lockdowns is helping no one in any way shape or form. "

Despite saying "whilst I’m not deriding people’s own experience   or saying this is not the case" What followed looked as if you were saying "but i don't believe you and it sounds like it's all made up because it's not what I've seen or heard first hand from people that I know." You then went on to tell say that lockdowns aren''t helping despite someone having seen first hand the serious negative effects of Covid in his wife which may be prevented in other people through the use of the lockdown policies.

Unfortunately this row that has now gone on for 10 pages  because you said something that came across (most likely unintentionally) as dismissing another's traumatic personal experiences as unimportant in the greater scheme of things, then you got offended by his response.

What it really needs is for both of you to sit down in a room with a teacher (socially distanced of course and probably wearing masks!), explain what has upset you about the other's behaviour,  say sorry for upsetting each other and shake hands nicely without trying to break each other's knuckles (after using hand sanitiser or washing with soap for 20 seconds!)😜

I have kept from commenting on this ongoing spat.

BUT!

I recently read a triade on another forum, where a father was demanding the Word stop and then revolve round his Sons allergy issues, said son who then went on to have a career in the US Military, as recounted by his father.

Another was about a child that stumbled and banged his head, after being  probably needlessly rushed to the hospital, the father bragged as to how he had then surrounded the child with cushions etc etc, after the hospital had said the child was fine btw.

I read and reread those postings, and remain truely perplexed.

Yesterday in Portrush, I observed 2 sets of parents, be very, very over protective of big toddlers/young infants wishing to walk along a short section of low topped wall, about 15/18" from the ground. FFS!

Life is all about risk versus reward, life cannot be risk free.

And my brutal but balanced take on the current situation is that we are killing the economy to save a few lives.

Which killed economy will in return kill many MORE, in all sorts of convoluted but connected ways.

A bit like telling soldiers to come away from the front line during a war, because it is so dangerous.

Obviously it is hard for those who are or have been directly affected, but that does not mean we can stop the world to prevent it happening.

I mean most of us still drive, with all the associated risks, yes?

Ramble/rant over.

cheers

This is your favoured tactic which we have covered many times before ie keep asking for explanations and throwing in a a load of questions. My news sources are variable. Without wasting my morning in this Big J has written on several occasions about targeting the protective measure at the vulnerable and at risk groups  etc it’s that form of action I think should be taken. To put it another way tell me why you think Lockdowns are the  only answer. Bearing in mind the other fallout they cause.

Covid-19 is spread by human contact. To limit the infection rate we have to limit human contact. We have to limit the infection rate to prevent our healthcare system being overwhelmed, (we are already seeing this unfortunately, with the knock-on tragic consequences even for non-covid patients). Strict Lockdown seems to be the only effective way to minimise human contact. The first Lockdown worked extremely well, not even you can deny that surely. The transmission rate plummeted whilst it was in place and just after it. Subsequent lockdowns and Tier systems have not worked adequately simply because of a lack of adherence by a certain minority of Individuals. This has allowed the virus spread to rage completely out of control again. IMO, but without going into details, our splendid government is as much to blame for these failings as the anti-lockdown, anti-mask wearing fraternity.
Lockdown is obviously not the long-term solution, it is merely a holding strategy until such time as sufficient vaccination of the population has been achieved.
So called Herd Immunity acquired by protecting the Vulnerable whilst allowing everyone else to carry on life as normal with no restrictions could work in theory. However I do not believe that in practice it is possible without massive collateral damage. The number of vulnerable people is simply too large, and their lives are too interconnected with the rest of society. (Even if we don't include the numerous people whose vulnerability is due to lifestyle choices. I agree with the sentiment that they should not expect any preferential treatment). Look at what's happening right now with hospital admissions; and that's with semi-effectual restrictions in place. Imagine how much worse this would be without any restrictions in place.

While I agree with the sentiment.

Would you really just let it run.... people dying hospital carparks, ring 999 and getting an engaged tone and an ambulance never arriving? NHS works just walking out as they cannot cope etc, etc?

Yet we have Nightingale Hospitals laying empty. One is reported to soon fill 300 of the 4000 bed capacity. When we see these hospitals fill and bursting over then I’ll start to take this seriously.

And I don’t buy there’s no staff to man them either. Thousand upon thousands of specialist beds and Covid specific equipment just sitting idly by whilst people are supposedly dying in tents and backs of ambulances.

It does cross my mind that herding every patent into over crowded hospitals created the image that the NHS is full beyond capacity therefore we need to maintain and continue the lock-down. Increase it even. But if the Nightingale Hospitals where in use the regular hospitals would be all but empty and there would be a strong case for getting back to some form of normality as we’re repeatedly told we’re in lock-down so as to not overwhelm the hospitals.

There's no staff. NHS was cut to the bone so there is no fat and now staff are catching the virus which is inevitable. Don't mean to be cheeky but have you ever worked in public service?

I’ve heard that “no staff” line trotted out repeatedly. I explained why I don’t believe it in the same post you quoted me from, perhaps you missed that?

To add to that though there is thousands upon thousands of medical professionals who have retired and have offered their services but due to red tape have been unable to enlist. There is the the staff there if they want them. But seemingly it’s more convenient to just let people die in packer wards.

And no, I’ve never worked in the Public Secor, but I don’t see you being any kind of authority on the NHS just because you spent a portion of your working life sliding up and down a pole and is now hawking for work as a cleaner.

That's the reason you are giving us daft answers, You Have Never Worked in Public Sector and its obvious. You have what we call a Fixed Mindset, no matter what the facts are you always stick to your own mindset. We see this mindset in politicians so there's no point in arguing with you. I'm off to work now, have a good day. 😷

Don’t forget your mop.
