I've found the trousers you're wearing makes a big difference, my pfanner's with the mesh lining are a bugger on the shins, my arbor techs are great with the soft cotton or whatever lining. I'm using Buckinghams with leather pads. As has been said the boots make a difference also. My meindl wood walkers all day in spikes not ideal pfanner tirols massive difference and make it a pleasure.

What he said ☝👆

My arborist vents have a zip out tick guard and if that's just in the wrong place it's agony.

Boots also big help, I have arbortec profells which being quite a high boot really help compared to my old airstreams which offered hardly any support. Geckos for me too by the way had them since before they were in the UK and would have nothing ells.

Been climbing on the Kleins with velcro pads for 20yrs, wear them most days and find them very comfy. I would like to try the geckos as every person who has worn them, says they are super comfy.

As others have said, make sure they are adjusted correctly, makes a huge difference.

Spikes have come a long way since my first pair of "Irons" which I think were made by Michael Richmonds blacksmith and resembled some sort of medical calliper. They were not even slightly comfortable.

You young uns don't know how good you got it.

The secret to making most spikes comfortable is full wrap Velcro pads and proper adjustment.
