I just kneel with the saw between my legs and rest the bar on a log, been doing it long enough that left handed feels as natural as right handed

The main problem I have with it is chronic pins and needles in my legs after, where the padding on my trousers cuts off the blood at the knee.

similar thing, I put down something dry, kneel down on it then clamp the saw between my legs and sharpen, have done it that way since I started.

Guess I'm in better shape than I thought then :)

That's the way I've always done it, but tip of bar on a 2 -3 " branch so you can really push down on the gullets. Keeps the chain out of the dirt too.

I rest the bar on top of steering wheel in van, and sharpen whilst sitting. Really is the most comfortable position. However, the chain does wear the steering wheel badly after a few years. I run an 04 pickup, so I'm not too bothered about that. only really suitable for around 20" bars or less in the cab.

Been doing this for donkeys years now, and have yet to find a more comfortable position.

No chance, got to sit holding the saw upright between my legs but that's because my knees are shot and had half of 1 kneecap out so bit lacking in bend.

Might be ok doing it that way with a 088 on a cold day to warm your nether region

Same here, saw between legs more comfy.... Really must get round to mounting a vice on top of the chipper!
