(Recommendations from another women!).

I have always used a Husky 357, it is so easy to start etc.

But recently have used my husbands 261, finding the lighter saw is better when cutting for 6-7 hours, as it is a bit lighter, whatever you use you will get used to it after a while!

Think I will eventually replace the Husky with the 261.

My wife who is 5'4" and 9 stone found the most important thing when chosing a saw was the distance between the top handle and the chain brake due to having small lady size hands!! Some of the bigger saws she found it hard to get the chainbrake on smoothly and more importantly quickly she settled on the husky 346 which she loves!

346 all the way!!

I would agree with the 346 but unfortunately you can't buy them new any more so you may need to look for a s/h one.

It's worth noting that if your going to use it for your CS30/31, you'll need the bar length no more than 15".

Yep 15" bar as I said earlier . 550 is the way to go me thinks . Lighter and more nimble than a 346 ( I have a spud ported 346 which is another animal ) Its the future for a good while . Get a 550 , you owe it to your self ! Let us all know how you get on with whatever you decide .

Oh and all this stuff about not having a pro saw cos you are a girl .... the faster it cuts the less time you godda control it . If you are confident with a saw a pro saw is going to make life eraser . Just the way I see it . Get a 550 !

Stihl 261 or Husky 550 ? difficult choice. Sharing parts pool or a bit of friendly rivalry ? My only suggestion is to get your new saw with a semi-chisel chain as well as a full chisel. The semi-chisel chain is less aggressive in the cut and will build confidence. When comfortable the full chisel goes on for your assessment day
