It’s a lot of cash no doubt.

a couple  of things.

for a pick up try someone like Nfu on the phone not online (my pickup costs £770 or thereabouts on business insurance though Nfu will do “normal” insurance too)

then it obviously come down to any claims you have had in the past if any?

4 wheel drive kills the price too.

if you have a girlfriend/wife whatever put them on it too price will fall more so if you live together.

How's that work out? I'd assume that adding additional drivers would increase the premium, not reduce it?

Spreads the risk. For that reason I'd consider asking for a fleet policy, any driver over 21.

Make sure that you don't have haulage listed on your truck policy also- this adds a huge whack.

It’s all to do with risk (obviously) you are thought to be lower risk if in a stable relationship.

its still cheaper for me after 25 years to have my wife on the policy than not

Lower risk in a stable relationship

Some of the women I've been involved with over the years should have doubled the premium, not reduced it. :( But that's another story which is probably better left untold.

I hear you there Gary!

My Transit policy reduced one year even when I told them straight my wife utterly refuses to drive it!

I’m sure insurance companies sometimes cut the head off a chicken and base your premium on the pattern of the blood splatter.

It’s the only explanation.

Jack, buy a small brown car and watch your premium tumble.

My burgundy Fiesta costs so little I think by next year they will be paying me to insure it.

I haven’t told them I’ve put a GTi badge on the back, mind.

I was a member of the " small brown car " owners club . You get free track days at Goodwood . ?

Yeah you’d think so- when I first got my landrover 10 years ago the insurance reduced dramatically when adding my wife, which surprised me as I wouldn’t want her driving it for love or money!
