With all the extra weight built in to modern vehicles to make them safer/more luxurious/bigger yet still with the same 3.5t limit why cant they up the weight limit on these so they can run legally? An old smiley Transit is going to be less kerb weight than a brand new Transit yet the new Transit will be safer for carrying more payload due to better/newer mechanics and modern structural integrity. So why not up the official payload to 4t or 4.5t and have people driving around safely within the law?
  2. Has anybody had any play with the electric version? Any differences in speed/power between elec/petrol?
  3. Does anybody have any suggestions to other mini hedges to plant instead of Boxwood? I would like to keep it at about 1.5-2ft height and 1ft width. If you have photos of others that would be much appreciated.
  4. Does anybody have any personal use of both battery and petrol pole saws? I'm looking into the Husky 536LiPT5 pole saw. I use a Echo with another company which is a good piece of kit, extra 2kgs compared to the battery Husky.
  5. I run a single cab Crafter, its a nice vehicle for the job. Single wheel isn't the best for carrying heavy load as it moves about a lot more than twin rear wheels. They are a fair bit larger size wise compared to Cabstar if your are trying to fit into small driveways. Wouldn't bother with double cab, even longer so need more length for parking, plus payload will be even smaller(but that's another argument on this forum )
  6. Fixed. Ended up just being a large chunk of wood that had got wedged in the flywheel causing an indifference in weight. Yey.
  7. Using my Greenmech 130 earlier and a lot of vibrations started. The engine dampener does seem as though you can pull it up/down very easily, should it be like this? I can lift it up so much that I could probably pull the belts off.
  8. One of the starter solenoids on my Greenmech 130 has just started getting intermittent. The spade has a loose connection so having to wiggle it to get the electrical current to go through. There are 2 different solenoids connected to each other. One has 1 spade and the other has 2 spades. It’s the one with 2 spades that is dodgy but all sites only sell the one with 1 spade. Should it have 2 different solenoids? Seems a bit strange to me. It’s the 23hp Vanguard. Any help would be much appreciated.

  10. Had/have the same issue. I Replaced mine with the chipper spec msa defenders, still not perfect but they are better. Same issue with the CT-X Arbor helmet too.
  11. Anyone got any reviews on the Husqvarna 226HD75S? Similar to the Stihl 82R im guessing but £80 cheaper. Cant find any reviews on them.
  12. Also much more stability with dual wheels. Singles tend to be a bit more "wollowy".
  13. You were happy with Admiral??? Years ago an old lady drive into the side of my car, had a witness see this and wanted to help me. It took nearly 2years to get my money out of them/other insurance company. I left them straight away once my renewal was up!
  14. Ok many thanks for the response. I'm going to have horrizontal and vertical beams which I will rivet the panels to to stop it from bulging and give it more reugidity. Also with it having a double skin the outer visible skin won't get damaged.
  15. Crafter 3.5t tipper. Mild steel framework with alupanel double skin so outer skin doesn't get dented by chippings/logs.
  16. What size steel tubing is good for building a body out of? I am thinking or using 40x40x2mm mild steel S325. Would this be ok?
  17. It really bugs me when I'm working for someone else and they expect me do to what I'm being paid to do rather than sitting around drinking tea whilst updating my Instagram and facebook. I mean, when else am I going to do this? I love a good old "hufffffff" too
  18. Clearly their Christmas budget needed topping up and helped themselves to the poor guys hard earned money. Absolutely pathetic! Hopefully karma fights back!

    Chip Box - GRP?

Aluminium Composite: Dibond & Alupanel | Bay Plastics Ltd These Aluminium Composite Panels seem like a good material to use, just need to double layer it so the inside can get dented but leave the outside looking nice an fresh.

    Chip Box - GRP?

Nothing comes up on the Arbtalk search for GRP. Just trying to find out which is going to suit me best. Sticking with alloy planks and see if I can source some more to make it higher, get a luton and build with that grp stuff. Or maybe make a steel frame work and then use a alloy/plastic composite. All depends which is going to be strong yet light weight. The alloy planks that ive got just seem very heavy.
  21. Thinking of redesigning my chip box. Currently have the alloy plank on there but they only go up about 800mm (4sections). Now I'm wondering about using GRP sheets which come on Luton vans as you can pick up an old body in good condition for an ok price. Would this stuff be strong enough for use in tree work? How light/heavy is it in terms of weight? When I removed the sides of the alloy planks they seemed very heavy in my mind. Ross. * I've tried searching about GRP but cant find anything. Search button wont accept "grp" as its too short.
  22. They need to just have an open space where people come and dump hard-core and soil (in separate bays), then other people can come along and take what they need for their projects at homes. Oh hang on, HSE would have a field day with that! Also, no money for the council too. What a useless country we have!

    201t heat plate

Just has this rattling around in my 201t last couple of days. I'm guessing its the heat plate to reflect the heat from the exhaust off the plastic. Screws seemed to have gone unless it was just glued on. Is it important or just leave it off?
  24. Twin rear wheels means its also 4wheel drive.......
  25. European trawlers, although I think now it will be UK trawlers shortly with more relaxed quotas.......
