Does the 201T take a while to warm up,unlike the 200t?Just what ive heard, also is it better fuel economy?

Yeah I find after the saw fires up you need to leave it just a fraction longer than with my old 200T so that when you blip the throttle to settle revs it doesn't die. This isn't a problem really as the revs at start up are much lower than when the 200T which used to take off!!

Oh, and much better fuel economy!

I've got an early 2012 201t. With the exhaust opened up its been a really reliable work saw. On a 12" bar its always done what I needed it too. I've just put the upgrade kit on it with a new advanced flywheel and ignition module and new carb and throttle linkage. Seems to pick up a lot quicker now, ill test it out in timber tomorrow.

The 200ts were great saws, when they worked. I think people forget the reliability issues with the carbs. My 201t had had practically nothing but a side covet and sprocket in its lifetime, lasts longer on a tank of fuel, and is noticeably lighter.

S’right, the 201t is super reliable, and the new electronic ignition version is a peach, power right through the rev range.

Electronic ignition! Now there's an idea! No more cracking my elbow pull starting saws in a tree!

Mtronic carb probably, ignition's been electronic for years now no more points and condensers thank goodness.

I can only judge on what ive used and i dont like the 201 tcm.

Odd Stihl got it soooo wrong - with those saws after having a perfectly competent ( appart from giving me RSI to my wrist ) saw then buggered it up . K

( HUsq 335 cured RSI in a week - happily )

I just have memories of using our 201 and it going pete tong trying to chase a cut due to it being a complete gutless piece of crap... although it’s been fitted with the upgrade kit since .. I have no faith in it at all and the saw has not been on my belt since and made it a priority to fix the 540 immediately ......

The main trouble with the MS200T carb is the fact that no one seems to know what makes them work. There are three main issues....................etc etc, once fixed, you have a reliable saw again!
