So without 41 and 34 no one is professional???

And if you haven't refreshed your tickets your no professional I cant remember who said it but on another thread about refreshing why should professionals be made to retake a BASIC course? Its an insult.

Theres plenty of blokes around who haven't got lolerd kit who still do a professional job It maybe best practice but not best practice doesnt make you any less of a proffesional

How do we differentiate our selves from the fly by nights who wreck trees and cut prices and then we are asked to put things right, and generally make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

I do think the point was missed when quoting CS units, people forget the higher level of units, and yes i do know some very professional contractors that do not hold any or just the basic units,

on the other hand i employ sub contractors and if they hold the required units but have done there training at certain colleges i will not employ them

Simple we dont. Geting refreshed on training doesnt make stand you out from the crowd it just means you give an allready over payed sum of monney to a training college and then have to give it them aagain in 5 years time JUST so you dont look like a cowboy.

If we spent our whole time trying to differentiate ourselves from cowboys then we wouldnt be making any monney we would jst be spending monney on useless things to differetiate and not earining a living!

Can someone please clarify the LEGAL position here?

I have £5m PL and EL with a company advertise on this site who never once asked me for any qualifications whatsoever.

I have paid 12 months up front, and can obviously prove this.

If things go tits up, a limb breaks, I slip, an accident occurs -

AM I INSURED?

No speculation please, like Huck, I'm sick of all the crap talked about ' your ins. co. won't pay if you were dismantling without 41 etc.'

They have never heard of 41!

The truth is out there!

If you have 25 years experience with no accidents does that mean anything compared to fresh faced lad with tickets but no experience?

When I wanted to become an "Approved contractor" for one of our LA's I sent in all the relevant paper work. I got a call from them saying they were a little concerned that my certs were over 10 years old. I said "If your wanting someone new to the job, with little experience I'm not the man for you"

They saw my point and I am now on their list and do a most of the work they put out to tender.:001_smile:

.......!

Pass... it doesn't matter what the salesperson says or knows about the industry, the bottom line is the contract you signed with the insurance company. The policy document that goes with that contract says exactly what can and can't be claimed for as well as any minimum training standards required, etc. As long as you comply with the contract then their is no reason that I can see why the company would not to pay out for a valid claim.

Your policy schedule has all the details of what you are insured for and more importantly the exclusions which is the stuff you aren’t insured for.

Minor claims usually go through with little fuss, when the claims get significant the underwriters and loss adjusters start looking for an out.

That said i'm qualified so wouldn't have a problem with sending my NPTC's in & whoever you go with if u havent got 38&39 on site when it goes wrong they'll be taking u 2 the cleaners who-ever insures you!

Not having a go, but I would say him having 25 years + experience is far better a qualification than NPTC units
