ive always done 5ltr from the pump, then 100ml oil filled into the little chamber on the oil can and i have never had any definite fuel related problems in any saw or hedge trimmer etc.

i have unfortunately never run a 500i though :(

Mick thanks. It's just I heard that for just a spoonful of extra oil it protects the bottom end better. Will take the advice..  Cheers. John.

You won't remember when two stokes ran on 16:1 straight 30sae oil, terrible smoke and no better protection than a modern dedicated 2t oil at 50:1.

I would stay with what the manufacturer advices and either the pre mixed fuel or ethanol free and a good quality oil . 

on a side note i say ethanol free as i have already seen 2 saws burnt up on this new fuel .

You can get fully synthetic brands in the uk, which are 100-1. Prosint is one can obtain if requested.
