Refilling fuel cans

Bit of a random one but today I filled up my combi can with 5 litres of petrol then got back and put my 2 stroke mix in

I then realised that on the fuel can it was actually measuring under 5 litres

I went to 5 litres on the pump not the 5 litres mark on the fuel can, what does everyone else normally measure to? The fuel can or go by the figure on the pump?16608227017706884667267905698162.thumb.jpg.1cf3bd9864343882274a0ef55952c587.jpg

I would always put the 2t oil in first  then the action of the pump will help mix it evenly .

Think this could be a milk/tea discussion. I always put the fuel in first as I don't want the oil to stick to the bottom of the can, rather it swirled around as it drops in.

Then I put it in the back of my Landrover and drive home, always reckon that gives it a shake too.

I put oil in first for the same reasoning. Let the fuel mix it up. As you say a good shake up in the truck won't harm it.

Re; accuracy. The can's swell and contract but ought to be close. As you've oiled 4.5 -4.75 litres it'll just be marginally oilier say 45to47:1   which has to be better than running it lean on oil. Yes?

If I remember back to my CS30 I think they suggested half filling the can with petrol, adding the 2t oil and topping the can up with petrol.

Bit of a faff at the pump though. I really don't think it matters compared to accurate measurements and good quality oil and fuel.
