Tbh I thought that the Russian army would have easily taken the Ukraine by now. Surely what we are seeing is only a fraction of the Russians capabilities. I can't see Putin giving up so does that mean we are going to see a big step up in Russian offensive? I don't mean nuclear as I very much doubt that that is going to ever happen.

What he doesn’t want to do is flatten Kiev and kill thousands in a messy conflict.

That won’t play well at home or abroad.

He was hoping for a quick, decisive victory, if he had taken possession of the whole place in a few days, with little or no bloodshed, they’d have been a lot of squawking but it would have died down in time, looks like that won’t happen.

He seems in the mood for doubling down and seeing it through to a conclusion, good or bad.

That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately it could get far worse for the Ukraine's. Hopefully there will be some agreement as they have planned talks, I just can't see it though.

The sophisticated electronic systems for both the Javelin and the MBT Law missiles are made in Glenrothes where I live, by Raytheon Systems (used to be called the Hughes Corporation after Howard Hughes the reclusive weirdo!). Now and again it gets boycotted by some left wing socialists and the likes. Cant see another demo happening soon as the weapons are being used against an oppressor such as Russia and not by the Americans!

Personally I find Putins threats of nuclear missiles a bloody insult. Having lived through much of the cold war, we are used to this threat and TBH - WHERE THE FECKING HELL DOES HE THINK BOTH THE UK AND US NUCLEAR SUBS ARE AND WHERE ARE THEIR BLOODY RAFT OF NUCLEAR SLBMs are POINTED AT.....what a total dick.

Stop messing about Steve - tell us what you think!

I wonder what Vlad's new best mate Xi Jinping is thinking now...  apart from 'I need to be more careful about choosing my friends'!
