Personally I find it’s easier to attribute our existence and the existence of this highly complex and (as the video shows), precise universe, to an Almighty creator than to a big bang.

I think the word easier sums it up for a lot of people who believe in God. Easier and a lack of knowledge and I'm not trying to be condescending when i say that but thousands of years ago when religions where created no one knew that each one of us is made up from trillions of atoms, some dating back 14 billion years ago and that the rest where forged in massive stars before the earth was even formed. You and me are billions of years old, parts of us roamed the earth as dinosaurs, trees, bacteria rocks and comets. We will go on living for billions of years into the future. Just because we haven't figured out every last detail doesn't mean that what we have discovered isn't true.

For me that is far more exciting an believable than saying God did it.

I very much agree.

If a God existed and was all-powerful but allowed pure evil to continue, why would anyone worship them?

If a God existed but was powerless to prevent evil, by what measure are they a God?

Personally, I believe (like the Jatravartids of Viltvodle VI) that the Universe was sneezed out of the Great Green Arkleseizure's nose and fear the coming of the Great White Handkerchief :D

To me, this is also the most important argument against homoeopathic medicine. Sure, water has memory, but it chooses to remember ONLY that one time you shook it around in a bottle with a lump of arsenic, and not the time it was a drop of sweat on Napoleon's ballsack, or the millions of years of being pissed out by pterodactyls...

Gnosticism presents a distinction between the highest, unknowable God or Supreme Being and the demiurgic "creator" of the material, commonly identified as Yahweh, the God of the Hebrew Bible. Several systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as antagonistic to the will of the Supreme Being: his act of creation occurs in an unconscious semblance of the divine model, and thus is fundamentally flawed, or else is formed with the malevolent intention of entrapping aspects of the divine in materiality. Thus, in such systems, the Demiurge acts as a solution to (or, at least possibly, the problem or cause that gives rise to) the problem of evil.

Thought this was supposed to be a thread about the Ukrain conflict not the ramblings of folks views on religion….So with Sweden and Finland now wanting to join NATO which is something not even the Cold War achieved I wonder how there general population feel on russia and if there is any resistance to joining nato.

There are some misgivings i know in Finland but to what extent 🤷‍♂️, two of my sons have done their National service there and both stayed with family members whilst on leave, the vibe I get from the uncle they stayed with ( whom was a navy regular and reservist for many years) is not positive in particular when it comes to sending large amounts of equipment etc, mind you he’s getting close to 60 now so may view things differently to the younger people looking at the whole Ukrainian/NATO situation. I do know there are a good few Finnish Jaegers in Ukraine fighting right now, historically absolutely no love lost between Russia and Finland.

It looks like Vladimir will have a very short list of summer holiday destinations to choose from.

NEWS.SKY.COM

The International Criminal Court has accused the Russian president of being involved in...

It’s a nothing story imo.
Otherwise Dubya would have one as well, if anyone thinks Putin or the Russian public give a monkey’s toss about this, they want their heads looking at.
