Screwfix Drill/Impact Driver Twin Pack Bargains - DeWalt vs Makita

Hi folks

First up, in case anyone hasn't seen it there's an extra 10% off at Screwfix until midnight tonight...

So I've been thinking to get a new cordless drill set as my old Ryobis are completely passed it.  These two options have really caught my eye and with the additional money off come in at just over £160 which seems a really good price.  They're only for home DIY use.

Some of the things that my inexperienced eyes have noticed:

- DeWalt is brushless, Makita isn't
- DeWalt has LED lights on both units, Makita just on the impact driver
- Makita has lower torque and speed
- Makita possibly has more overall fans, although DeWalt do have a fair share and I have read of people switching from Makita to DeWalt and being happy.  Seems more the other way round though.
- Both items get great reviews on Screwfix, but the companies get bad reviews on TrustPilot

Before I toss a coin to decide, I thought I'd ask the people of the forum your thoughts.

Cheers

Always been a Makita man myself but my mates mostly have Dewalt stuff and we're all equally happy I think. No horror stories to tell about either of them.

Not much help I know, but I reckon they're pretty equal and it's more about brand preference. So, do you like washed out blue or yellow best?

It’ll all work but I handled some new Makita stuff a few weeks ago and it felt crap and plastic. The Dewalt drill my neighbour has is very strong and a friend has the darling little 10.8v set, which I would have in a heartbeat. I happen to like Milwaukee but out of Dewalt and Makita, Dewalt.

Ive got the same DeWalt twin pack. Ive only used the Drill a handfull of times but it feels miles better than my previous DeWalt Cordless Drill. The Impact Driver with its 178nm of Torque is brilliant. Rams in 6-8" Screws no bother.

I’ve full dewalt kit, batteries are still all going strong from when i first bought them in 2011, no complaints at all and no repairs to them. My chucks getting a bit worn on my drill but 10 years + is a good innings that cant be knocked i dont rekon!
