I know it wont happen but just suppose you could eradicate every last man jack of them would that not allow the reds back in ?

Been a few studies in Scotland and possibly n eng where it has been proved the reds will fairly quickly re establish in an area once Grey's have been wiped out.

If a population nearby, is it Anglesey? they reintroduced them quite successfully.

I think they have entirely wiped Grey's out off Aberdeen now and reds were moving back in.

Same after any reds have been hit with squirrel pox  as long as keep the Grey's out the reds quickly come back.

Stick at it squirrely, wasnae meaning to pee on ur chips but it's just not that easy or else it wouldn't be costing forestry billions of pounds in damage.

I'm involved with local red squirrel group and bloody time consuming trying to trap Grey's esp when only 1 or 2, still just about hanging on to our reds, just.

They taste 👅 beautiful fenn traps in a box on the tree or on the ground Or shooting them on a bait station is the way to go  but will always be a on going battle. But I wouldn’t like to see everyone eradicated. We wouldn’t have anything to watch and wouldn’t ever have anything to hunt and eat. 👍

Pine martens supposedly help alot controlling grey numbers dunno why they don't breed them and realease all over?

Probably annoy game keepers....

Greys  are like triffids i reckon  need to eliminate  every last one or you will be back to sqaure one in a couple of yrs no matter how many you kill .

NZ have a plan to kill every single invasive possum rat and stoat by by 2050

Gas and nail gun technology are being deployed in the fight to eradicate rats, possums and stoats.

Anglesey being an island has zero greys (and zero deer) only because they had yrs of work and funding to kill every single grey and contsantly monitor for any getting back across the water as some greys  do sometimes either get across the bridges or are re -  released by public.

But that won't work so well elsewhere....
