hi

yeh basically wondering if anyone has moved a 15 or 20 foot empty container, and if they have, how they did it?

thinking about getting one to use as a shed due to the fact they are big and secure!

access is tight but it will go, it would have to go in long ways the whole way down the garden

could get a digger in, like a 5 ton but not a telehandler or anything

i dunno if it's a stupid idea or not :D

thanks

If you can get a 5 ton digger in you'll have no problems, boards and fence post rollers will help it move easier and protect the ground.

I work with a couple of engineers positioning/removing generators and what you can do with a roller pole and a pry bar is amazing ??

I've got to site  a 20 ft fully clad/insulated/lined shipping container for some customers in a couple of weeks, that's going to be interesting ??

My old boss asked me to give him a hand to move a 40ft container into his yard he had moved it a bit of the way to were he wanted it on fence post as rollers and his Ford 3000 then it need turning 90deg and drag it down the side of barn.

Took Landy 130 and winched it into place with a snatch block.

A fairly long Ifor Williams (or brand of your choice) flat bed trailer works well. Shunt it into position, Jack four corners up, pull trailer out, job done ?

Pretty much this. Been looking at doing it with my 18' Ifor. 2' overhang at the back. An empty 20' is 2,200kg empty so within my payload.

Set it on blocks or axle stands and lower in stages with jacks. Also tempted to build a mobile gantry to do it with.

A container is only as wide as the truck that delivers it, if the container goes down there wont the truck?

Bob

They are all the same width.

i don't think the lorry would make it to be honest!

sounds rather possible with some round poles and a digger!
