Stihl yard cant hook is good, much better than a felling lever.
If you're doing big logs get an 8' piece of scaffold too.

Only one,s i have used are the stihl one of late, and back in the early 80s when i worked at a small saw mill there was one there that was a dream to use, handle would be 5ft + long but was it easy to turn biggish logs over, had a big hook on it that took no effort at all to get a really good hold on the log, but i would put money on it that it was from the 30s or even the 20s, felling bar total waist of time and money for turning logs, buy the proper thing you wont regret it,

Stihl also repaint Logrite stuff. Id put money on that yellow Ochsenkopf being a Logrite, the design is identical.

It is, I agree. I don't know anything about cant hooks but at the beginning the op said Stihl had discontinued one.

A few years ago I was buying a maul and liked the look of the Stihl one but it was discontinued. Found it was made by Ochsenkopf and bought one off amazon.de as it was quite a bit cheaper.

It seems Ochsenkopf is a brand within Gedore so yes could be Logrite painted yellow, might be why it's so expensive.

Biggest one they offer, and the handle is aluminum. Opinions on this v the shorter one(s)? Worth the money? Except when...

I bought a Peavey offf M Large years ago, the biggest one, to get the longest shaft for maximum leverage, me being a scrawny runt.

BUT!

It  cannot grip my smaller dia logs, so "horses for courses", so I need to buy another one(and I should probably actually fabricate my own)
