Some years ago I was a wholesaler in a different industry,  over 40 years in that industry.     I would suspect that prices from the product manufacturers or importers who are suppling the company you speak of will have gone through the roof due to world wide demand and profiteering by the manufacturers.

The retailer has fixed overheads and usually adds a fixed percentage to his cost price to cover these and make a reasonable profit.  So if the costs rise so does the sell out price.

So if the retailer had the product in stock in December then you have a fair point,  if not you may not.   Certainly I would be asking the reason behind the price rise.

He said it was an arb company. What arb company last year would have been supplying hand sanitiser or disenfectant wipes?

Or pasta. I got the same email I guess, thinking that's expensive but then have they actually done a good job to find some at all? Where is anyone else buying it?

Alternative is hot water and soap, so maybe take a huge flask to site?

A pal in Norway cracks out 95% stuff. Its something else. I could theoretically produce at around 75%. :D He has a much better Still than me, but my Reflux Still is coming along nicely and that will get me into the high 80%, maybe even 90% depending on what material I use in the column. Strictly for distilling pure water for my batteries of course. ;)

Small world Andy that  stuff is the dogs bollocks

The first mrs father got me into that years ago over in Finland. Probs best vodka I’ve ever tasted. You do have to watch out though as it does have a habit of going down nice then creeping up on you big time. He was a typical Finnish man ie of very few words and that was the ritual when we visited regardless of time of day,  shot of that straight from freezer neat . ?

No idea,   I sell stoves and do firewood as a sideline.  As such I buy very little from companies of that type compared to most of you.

How many Arb wholesale / retail outlets were selling pasta in December? ?

Oi Johnson, get over to the today's news thread, I could do with a row after the day I've had.

Yeh, small world indeed. I know the feeling. sipping away being right as rain and then BANG, sparked out of the floor. :D

My Norgie mate makes the 95% stuff from a sugar wash. Makes a batch in an IBC. Its cracking stuff. Smells like vanilla and a drop on your tongue evaporates almost instantly. He's a clever lad, only young but loves his toys. He's reactivated a M16, a AK and his AR-15. Nutter.
