Profiteering prices!

I’ve just received and email from a well known Arb retailer:

250ml hand sanitiser £24.50!

110 disinfectant wipes £24.45!

5kg of Pasta. WTF!

 

How shameful.

I will never again buy from them!

Just use cheap vodka, that will do the job at £10 a bottle! I guess you could mix it with hair gel to make up a similar product.

Apparently not, it needs to be more than 60% alcohol to be effective, vodka is 40%.

A pal in Norway cracks out 95% stuff. Its something else. I could theoretically produce at around 75%.  He has a much better Still than me, but my Reflux Still is coming along nicely and that will get me into the high 80%, maybe even 90% depending on what material I use in the column. Strictly for distilling pure water for my batteries of course.

Some years ago I was a wholesaler in a different industry,  over 40 years in that industry.     I would suspect that prices from the product manufacturers or importers who are suppling the company you speak of will have gone through the roof due to world wide demand and profiteering by the manufacturers.

 

The retailer has fixed overheads and usually adds a fixed percentage to his cost price to cover these and make a reasonable profit.  So if the costs rise so does the sell out price.   

 

So if the retailer had the product in stock in December then you have a fair point,  if not you may not.   Certainly I would be asking the reason behind the price rise.
