Arbtalk is a shop window into our industry, like it or not.

On the one hand people complain that we are not taken seriously as an industry, not paid enough, not considered professional.

Then they whinge when they are pulled up for lowering the tone on here with what is basically unnecessary language.

I'm no prude, I swear as much as the next man, maybe even more. But i am quite capable of curbing my language when i'm typing. Not really sure why its a massive problem for some people.

Typing tourrettes?

I have apologised for my improper use of language.
Could you tell me why you let matelot and others use this forum as a platform for racism and islamaphobia for nearly two years and no admin involvement?

I would say there’s issues of free debate on the other issues, there’s no point discussing stuff if there is a offence klaxon every time someone crosses an imaginary line that differs from person to person.

I am one of the most foul mouthed people I know in real life, I may well have sworn on here for comic or dramatic effect and got away with it.

But it is very easy to not do it, it doesn’t just slip out when you type like in speaking.

As an example, I once let my 7yo son look at a car forum, just looking for pictures of cars. Two pages further on was some porn. Not what I would want my children to see!

His mother's boyfriend 'effs and blinds' about the house freely. I feel that while we all know the words, it shows a lack of respect to those around you using such language. And poor intelligence in not finding an alternative!

The mods have a on awful lot to do to maintain this as a worthy forum and sometimes, posts get modded while others get through. I think that self policing on a minor, avoidable point is best. While we may use crude vernacular daily, committing it to print is another!

Is this question aimed directly at me? If it is il try to give you a little insight as to why I neither have the time nor inclination to read every thread wether it interests me or not

I run my own company, I have done for the last decade at least. I’m an Arb approved contractor and manage all the associated paperwork myself.  I have a good team of guys who all require managing and need work putting in front of them. I’ve got over £100k of work ahead of me of which I do all the quoting for. As well as contracting I also undertake all the Arb consultancy work for my company as well as most of the machine work for my own jobs as well as other companies who require operated machine hire. I also live on a smallholding which could be considered a full time job in itself

So forgive me for not moderating to your exacting standards.

Maybe you should do your own bit for the forum by not posting inane threads that require moderating because you think throwing some disgusting language in makes you look tough

Steve ain't paying you enough mate.

What makes me laugh more than people getting pulled up for naughty words, is clinging onto it like a whingy toddler. Take your licks, man up and move on.

Edit: Toxic masculinity. "Man up" is so medieval.

I will try again.

Not talking about swearing for swearing’s sake.

Nor having a pop at someone

There are no children on here nor are there people that will never have heard the vernacular.

Advertisers don’t give a dam, they are concerned with commerce not language.

I am educated but sometimes a swear word is the only correct word.

RH was quoting an actual situation.

Anyone on here upset with what he typed?

I have been upset by bigotry and needlessly confrontational prose on here , the odd swear word pales in comparison

You can't even spell the word correctly.

I've only ever seen justified criticism of Fundamentalist Islam and Islamist terrorism on this forum (lounge) as well as free and robust discussion on all kinds of contentious issues of the day. Stop being so childish.
