The use of the word gay as a negative is not, as it infers whatever the subject of conversation is is worse just like homosexuality is worse than heterosexuality.

Do you actually believe the use of the word nigger is acceptable because it's spelling is close to that of a nation named after a river?:confused1::confused1:

That's like saying you are a rapist because it's only one letter away from the racist?:confused1::confused1:

I don't have a problem with anyone's sexuality. However we've all come across gay people that display characteristics that are unhelpful. I don't really see a problem with associating these characteristics with being gay. We've all met an effininate gay guy that minces about. Do you think it wrong to call someone "gay" if he is mincing about instead of working? Or do you think it wrong to call someone gay if he doesn't want to get dirty?

Niger derives from the Latin word Niger which means black. It honestly seems crazy to me that calling someone a nigger is widely offensive but an African nation calling itself Niger is ok. It's also ok for a black person to call another black person nigger?

I think some people love taking offence...

Sir and Sur!, or even perhaps Cur?(a world of difference, from my TA YO days)

Nigger between black friends, as opposed to Nigger from a red-neck or "good ole boy"

Even in that context the use of "boy" to address a black male.

Or indeed harking back to the old Army charge of "dumb insolence", which made perfect sense, in certain circumstances.

PS

Here in NI "Black Bastard" used to be an insulting name for RUC Officers, being carried forward from the black uniformed RIC days, i.e. bugger all to do with skin colour!

A funny old world int it!
