Noticed a lot around lately too. A good excuse to tell anyone that'll listen what I recently heard about the summer of '76.

I've got some rings knotted on double braid. Is it as strong or as neat as a splice? No but I can tie knots and see they're still there. And the price was right. I can't splice double braid. Or rather I never have. Also have some spliced onto three strand, which I can splice and was happy to because you can see the strands holding. By yourself or not, rigging from the tree is mega useful. Sometimes the groundsman is useless, sometimes he's gone to chip up or shoot up. Sometimes you'll want to drift a piece onto the main system, or catch a butt. Or even sometimes you can run another down on a crotch before they've untied the last one on the main system. Or or or. The friction up top thing is less about protecting a weak rigging point (you can do that better by triangulating with predirects™ and redirects) and more about spreading it about being just nice. Reg Coates has a video on youtube explaining why he likes rings. The fact you can drop the rope and it won't zip up to the top of the tree is a good start. I use the 16mm Marlow in your link. There's nothing illegal about running it through pulleys and rings too. It might trouble Joe and his catalogue model mates though.

Straight up the transfer port in to the combustion chamber👎

Just open up the coil to flywheel gap, the ignition timing will be retarded ( if you can call it that nowadays) and the saw will be easier to start. Don't go too far as the spark will stop.

In the interest of accuracy and that .......🙂

Thought would see if interest here. advert will be on eBay tomorrow night 07/10/2025 2100. Auction starting at £68. I can’t upload pictures here but there will be 18 photos and 1 video which will be available on eBay. Wow belter of a saw available here. Not even broken in yet 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 This Stihl MS 200 T is almost like new Saw was bought brand new in 2004. Had little use the owner got a job and did not need saw. Saw was boxed until 2020 when it was checked over by local stihl dealer. Fuel cables replaced and serviced. Was then put back in the box. I received this saw at the weekend and have done nothing more than clean and start it. You can feel the power when you squeeze the throttle. Saw still has original bar, cover, owner manual and used chain. Everything is right and compared to anything else I have seen on the market for years nothing comes close to this little gem. What’s in pictures is what you will receive. Saw is used and has signs of use. Please refer to pictures as part of my description. Due to how rare this saw is I will no post unless buyer is happy to accept no returns. You are welcome to come and view or study pictures and video. Be aware due to eBay policy you must prove age before bidding. No offers this is auction only………………………. ………………………………………………………………………… I will not post unless buyer agrees to no returns. I will confirm with buyer that they agree to this before posting. If posted will be safely packaged and posted next day delivery tracked and signed for. This saw is to rare and original to have scammers swapping parts before returning. Please bid with confidence and collection preferred.Ask for price

Help with ring damaged tree please
CarpeDiemBill replied to CarpeDiemBill's topic in Tree health care
Thanks. It was a momentary lapse of concentration and I just caught it. I've packed the soil up a little more. the strands that are growing out of the join.... I was concerned that is some sort of fungus infection.... but it kind of looks like I've caused it to root from where the damage is. Amazing that plants can do that -
They dont seem very common over here. I've never seen one, but a few arboretums list them so might be worth a visit. Theres a few uk nuserys with them listed if you wanted to buy saplings.

Thanks folks. Yep, I found that 50 page booklet - I was hoping asking on here might be a shortcut to reading it cover to cover! (especially as it's a non-searchable pdf.) But direct advice from experience is usally better than FC advice imo as well. Or useful alongside. Glyphosate: i'm trying not to use it at all. I'm interested in views on whether Kerb (propyzamide) is any less, or more, evil than glyphosate???

Yes we do use google, however we work nationwide and have had some good connections through these kind of forums and other socials, resulting in creating great relationships with companies.

Someone post the most uncut footage available please. I can't be arsed wading through the waffling journos and portagriefs. Though while someone finds that, I might remark that it looks (from the crap video I've just seen) that it's a fairly open area. Park a car on him and save everyone's hearing. Right. Let's see a video.

I am sorry if I am on the wrong site, but I have searched the internet without success for an answer. My question is, that I have lived here for 25 one of the previous owners with my neighbour used some bird poo with a berry into my apple tree. So the mistletoe could well be over 40 odd years old. I always tell people that comment on it that it is male and never has berries. UNTIL……..I noticed some last week. I suspect this is unusual and more to the point how could it have happened. ? I have a couple of bird houses in the tree and lots of tiny birds frequent it. ( In the past they were blue tits, but I think it is a different species at the moment )

Its nice to be able to clip two carabiners on a ring if your working with two ropes, allows swapping between bridges easier and no real disadvantage that I've found.
