  3. Yep was near Huntly, but bailed out with all the shit from SSEN pylons and substations which is not needed. They wanted to put pylons on our fields, no asking, just slam dunk there you are. British and Scottish government along with SSEN are screwing up Scotland nicely, England and Wales are doing the same just a few years behind, Sorry to be bitter but we are damaged after the last few years.

    Husky junk

Can we see photos of the damage? Most of the time it can be cleaned up and perhaps new rings will save it. My engine auger is a good example of that with a lump of the bore missing, runs well enough. Photos in the compression thread somewhere. The Aspen lot are a bit like vegans, no need to ask, they will immediately tell you 😆 Everything will be blamed on E10. Im now convinced that smaller saws, and any other tools are better on battery, especially blowers, much better than a bg86, but not a replacement for the 020T or the G372 yet.

    New Hilux.

Just realised you meant truck! What a dullard! It is a 2.8ltr four banger. I am told it was this years m9del and registered before the changes in tax code etc! Used another tank today and got 21.4mpg. Bit leery at times, especially on a wet, diesel soaked roundabout! Wheel spin and opposite lock. Comfortable enough but oddly, has a stepped gear shift and a manual hand brake. Automatic headlights but not wipers and the lane advisor is nasty!

  8. I know you fud, I was just messing. That’s actually a pretty nifty technique.
  9. I’m not an expert on the legal side but as far as I understand it, once they’re PAYE you need to make sure they’re at least hitting minimum wage for all the hours they’re classed as ‘working’, and travel time can fall under that depending on where they’re starting from. A lot of firms I know pay something for travel if it’s a long run, even if it’s not the full rate, just to keep things fair. Probably worth having a quick chat with an accountant or HR advisor so you’re covered, especially with 2.5hr drives each way.
  10. Worth trying a couple of the local coppice lads around Herefordshire – a few still cut decent hazel each winter and usually have binders and stakes stacked. Also check with the Small Woods Association groups in the area, they often know who’s got fresh hazel in. For 63m you’ll need a fair bundle, so best to ring ahead before you drive out.
  11. Try giving a shout to a couple of the bigger firewood lads around Cheshire/Staffs, they usually know who’s moving artic loads at the moment. A few mills will deliver mixed hardwood/softwood if you’re not fussy on species, but it depends what’s coming in. Might be worth asking local contractors too, a lot of them have surplus straight off jobs.

  19. Just to tie this off, the spigot for the drop link was in the old wishbone but sheared off when trying to remove it. That and a drop link was £120 from Land-rover so, I drilled and tapped the spigot to M5, cut the head off a bolt and screwed that in lovely! The drop link was slotted back together and had a tie wrap secure the two halves! Decentish bodge job but it works!
  20. Bigger engine and 12–15” feed should be fine, but check how easy it is to move and set up.

  25. Same issue - solved after much grief by using air compressor (low pressure - just enough to make snapped off piston stop rattle inside the cylinder) - out it came after about 20 seconds. Did require removing exhaust.
  26. Both are decent bits of kit. From what a lot of climbers say, the SAKA feels a bit smoother and lighter, and it’s easy to tweak the bungee so it sits right, while the HAAS tends to give you that longer ‘big step’ feel and is pretty bomb-proof. If you’re already used to 30" of travel on the HAAS you might miss that with the SAKA, but most people seem to find it more efficient over a full day. I’d pick based on which set-up fits your rope diameter and how you like to stand in the harness rather than the spec sheet.
