Assuming its all new, first option is a light sharpen but leave the rakers, it will reduce the chip thickness, therefore be less agressive. I've seen a few chains that come a bit agressive/rakers too low out of the box. One issue with these small pruning saws is they have a slow chain speed, that lets it dig in more on small branches. I think its for some safety reason rather than any technical limitation of it being a small saw. Standard chain looks to be 3/8" 1.1 gauge. Stihl do a full chisel version which should cut a lot smoother, due to being sharper. While 1/4" has smaller teeth, more teeth in contact with wood eats more power. Can be smoother. Theres the .325, Oregons Speedcut nano, which Makita use on the UC029, my opinion its not much different to the narrow 3/8lp chains.

Primer bulb pulling air but not the usual suspects.
jarrick replied to jarrick's topic in Maintenance help
Thanks for the replies - I've been going over it again. Yes, the bulb is the right way round and the check valve is doing what it should, and I installed the carb kit correctly, without damaging the diaphragm. It could well be the other carb has the same issue. I don't think this carb has a throttle enriching pump. I put some air down the fuel intake and it held pressure. I tried sucking on the outlet pipe (that goes to the primer bulb) whilst blocking the fuel inlet pipe and I can hear air coming into the carb from somewhere - But when I also fully screwed in the H and L adjusters, it stopped the air coming in. Is that supposed to happen? Also, it is easy to blow air into the carb via the outlet to the primer bulb - is that supposed to happen? Many thanks. -

No, I rarely leave running, it hands on my harness hooks and I stop and start my saw so often that I've also just had to replace the white plastic cog the metal pawls mesh with in the starter. So a real mix on here, from scorched bellies and melted saw pants to those still on the original after years of abuse.

We are considering purchasing a new TP 175D Tracked machine. Has anyone owned or operated this model machine ? Any thoughts or advice, would be appreciated. Cheers

Electric is best for attaching and having everything under your fingers, it's a massive improvement. The Farma have a really nice design that go under your palms -

There is a diesel feed tap on the diesel filter housing. Very easy to leave shut after doing maintenance work and forgetting which way is open. Worth checking.

Not had a chance yet as there are quite a few machines in the workshop. I will hopefully get a bit of time in there this week to check it out.

I've had a go on Regs grapple. It noticeable out performs Captain. Easy to throw and store. But more importantly catches bigger branches easier as well as setting on all size branches easier.

Possible, there have been numerous more devices released since then also, blackbird, throttle, akimbo 2, the other rope runner, the ISC thing. Perhaps the market isn't as lucrative now as there are more options. I just spend a day climbing on two BDBs they will take some beating..

@Johnsond yeah I heard of it. Shouldn't exist! Wage every month enough to live a decent life and raise & educate two kids. That must be the normal. Or society heads in a hurry to self destruction.
-
@pleasant ah nevermind about that... Coltan is mined by almost every black individual(even kids) in DRC(Congo)... its called blood Coltan, because every day some guy or kid dies in mine shafts that collapse and bury them alive... What a hell, this is the world we live in today... better get used to it... 😱
