  7. Well funnily enough I met with both Tom and Jerry today at thier Scottish site. I was getting training and accretted. Was a great day and learned how to properly use the Mill plus Tom did a cracking job of dialing the Mill in properly.

  9. To add to the above - include reference to relevant documents regarding working practises etc (can be provided if required). The guy assessing the documents will almost never have any experience in tree works so they just need to understand you’re working to guidelines/standard and how you stay safe during the process.
  10. Unless you're a bona fide subcontractor then you don't need your own professional insurances. If they want you to act as one, then that's a very different arrangement altogether and will cost them a lot more money.
  11. Jeezy peeps, things are getting bad when people have to buy clones of Botch kit. @africanarborist I'd just keep an eye out on eBay and FB marketplace for a decent second hand pair. No, they're not Category III PPE, but you don't want some shonky pair from Amazon failing at a crucial moment. 16. Morning, still mild, the snow that’s left is now ice and lethal but main roads are good. Physio, breakfast rolls and some maintenance type stuff today. And then see what happens. Have a good 1.
  17. I can confirm the sena, pre mesh, will not work with the procom. I would have had another sema with mesh if they did a design like the 10r. I had one previously with the wheel, you would be astonished at the amount of times the wheel would get pressed on branches by accident. Unsure if the sena mesh will work with the older style.
  18. What's that a 25 inch on the 66… bet that goes alright! There's that luvely transit, old but gold! Had a wind blown tree across a toll road, Sycamore with Kretzschmaria, easy job with the tracked chipper and winch. Spray the chip on the bank, winch timber back up the the road, dragged it up to a layby. Van temperature gauge fluctuating quote a lot, not sure if this is heading the same way as my tractor 😢

    Old gloves

Wtf? Not even sure what I have read above. During COVID times when the pubs were shut me and a few mates would go mountain biking in the evening, stop somewhere and have a fire and cook some food. I remember at the end one of the party gathered up the old crisp packets and sausage packets etc into a carrier bag and then chucked it on the fire. Few moments later a bit of commotion as he realised his mountain biking gloves were in the bag and, by this point, engulfed in flames. Provided us with much amusement.
  20. lots of bacteria AND fungus around to be/become a problem! if there wasn't any fungus around even leaves or dead trees wouldn't "rott"/decompose. Depends in what environment the willow w was grown, especially temperature!

  23. When i get hired in with a mewp I usually end up doing at least 5x more cutting than I would do from a rope. The tendency is to one hand a out more too. It takes its toll on my right elbow/ shoulder
  24. I watched Micks vid of his saw going through some smallish dia stuff and it looked fairly quick . Does anyone think that because you don't hear an engine screaming away it seems slower when it actually isn't ? Just an observation . Without timing them side by side its hard to say for sure .

  26. Not great pics as I missed the last ten feet but top branches were black inside and like cork. About six foot up from the base there was an internal split and hollow area. They reckoned a couple of years and it would have been unstable. thanks for all your advice.
