Inspired by Jake Varah's slingshot, I wanted to try my hand at making something similar myself. In the end, it turns out to be quite capable. It easily throws my quite heavy 350g/12.3oz bag up near the top of tall pines without problems. * 2.1 meters of steel tubing, painted. * M10 threaded rod to hold the rubber bands. Heat-shrink tubing around the rod to protect the rubber bands. * Cheap exercise bands, rated "heavy". Wrapped in loops for twice the strength. 4-strand paracord constrictor knots to keep them together. * Home-made pouch of cow's leather, glued and stitched together with 4-strand paracord. Dyed black. Ended up looking more like a BDSM accessory than anything else... * AliExpress trigger for bows, gripping a 550 paracord loop. The trigger is surprisingly capable and doesn't let go even at significant tension. * Cheap single block for sail rigging, attached to the trigger with stainless steel wire. * Cheap rope cleat to hold tension, with some eye bolts to guide the rope. * Cheap pulley at the end, so I can pull tension upwards or sideways. We'll have to see how it fares over time, but so far it's been working well.

The migrants are waging economic war on us, 1000 in one day to feed and shelter, their legal work and health care paid for. It is so serious it should be declared a national emergency. We need to be prepared to shock the world with our ruthlessness, otherwise our country deteriorates further with each new one that comes ashore

it is but it's a choice, we always have fun on road trips, looking forward to the drive. Besides, much easier with internal combustion. I remember going over on foot when I was a younger man in the 1400's, even with blisters we showed them some bow skills.

They are a bit dearer but you can get one from Toolstation very similar tool. I got a Chinese one off eBay years ago, it doesn't get a lot of use but it still starts third pull and runs nicely. I have rebuilt the carb a couple of times due to my own fault but it's a simple enough machine to work on.

Anyone use pick up trucks for small/medium tree and hedge jobs?
Mark Bolam replied to Lou Brown's topic in Arb-Trucks
How do you load/unload a bag of chip into a pickup? -
That is a distinct possibility Stubby, as the fuel tank is totally separate and unless somebody flushed it and replaced the filter shows no sign of any chain oil, same with the carb, but the carb does show signs of removal and cleaning and hadn't been completely refitted. I shall investigate further.

- FOR SALE
- USED
Just had it repaired/tuned (previously wasn’t quite running right). Recent new chain. Selling because of lack of use due to having newer saws. I’ve always used bio chain oil with this saw which has stripped some of the paint from the body. Collection or can post at buyers cost. For further info etc WhatsApp me on 07748118266£250

Some of you may recall the tales of my dear friend Big John a little while back, here's another,, Picture the scene, it's Christmas time, a few of us have decided to get together at the local boozer for a decent end to the year, we've arranged to meet John there, he doesn't show, unusual for him, a few calls are made and he is apparently working security for a well know band at a gig, so we carry on in his absence content that he is ok, around midnight the pub telephone is ringing of the hook and the landlord answers, thinking it's someones irate wife calling about the husband, apparently it's Big John, wanting to know if the pub is still open, and having been told yes, can somebody put "Merry Christmas Everybody on the jukebox in 5 minutes, landlord humors John , "yeah ok" and hangs up, approximately 5 minutes passes and landlord tells someone,, Put Slades Merry Christmas Everybody, on the jukebox, every one looks a little surprised but it gets put on as requested, right as the moment it starts,, door literally bursts open and a very drunk Big john staggers in accompanied by an equally drunk,,, Noddy Feckin' Holder!, in perfect unison they proceed to sing the whole feckin' song perfectly, with the whole pub being heartily encouraged to join in. Noddy Holder kipped on Big Johns Sofa that morning as was when we finally left. John often did security for various bands and always managed to get them either into, or out of all kinds of predicaments.

It's the chemistry of biomass. The white wood of a short lived tree serves only to support the crown it has about 1% minerals and the rest is cellulose, lignin and hemicellulose, the working parts of the tree like the leaves and bark are more complex and need all the other chemicals to do their job and it is these that need the small amounts of potassium, silicon and other trace minerals that end up in the ash. grasses have high ash content because they do not differentiate into a support system. There was a database (Phyllis) which showed the chemical content of many plants, I haven't looked for it for a few years.

One side comment here, then back to predicting Trumps policies via Hollywood US Senator Johnson (? I think): "Trump was an FBI informant in the Epstein case" Also US Senator Johnson later in the same interview: "Trump knew nothing about Epsteins crimes" ... or words to that effect... Bit of a contradiction there, if you know nothing what were you informing the FBI about: "Hi FBI, Here to spill the beans, I know nothing" "Excellent and can you elaborate this nothing" "No, told you everything I know nothing about" "Great, thanks, we'll put you on the FBI Informants list" ...I Suspect what Johnson is really saying is "Trump was fully aware of Epsteins child rapes while he was doing them, and spoke to the FBI later to save his own skin" as you were, what films would make good US politics?

Domestic it can make a difference having named drivers or 2 main drivers - the explanation was if you share a car and crash it you have to explain to your other half.... so you drive more carefully. Made a difference adding Mrs P to my insurance and vice versa. Not so sure business wise, but for the sake of paying a real life broker commission or a web page commission, the real life broker is probably the best bet to talk to for your options - yet to see a web page giving advice. Profession can make a difference too "Tree Surgeon" or "Arboculturist" might be a difference in price for example.

Who buys Norway Spruce and Thuja in the Southwest?
Squaredy replied to Paul73's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
As was mentioned above you probably need to sell the timber standing. Of course this will only work if there is good access, and good tracks, or if it is not too steep for a harvester and forwarder. Have you estimated the total volume? It will have to be above a certain level to be viable. You could speak to Roger at Mendip Forestry. He knows what he is doing with regards to harvesting and marketing and covers your area. Also you could put some photos up here and then us Arbtalkers can tell you that the access is no good, or the trees are no good, or that there is some other technical problem which means you will have to pay someone to remove them for you.... -
Well took a £20 punt on the new pot and piston. Fitted fine. Cleaned carb and refitted. Tried to start. Coughed on choke all good. Switched choke off a couple of pulls. Bloody starter cord snapped. went for beer. back on this morning new cord heated plug with small blow torch. Started ok and running nice. Will get it ran in with a bit of load soon but all looks ok. Thanks for all the advice.
