  5. The Norfolk Arborist has gone from strength to strength since its formation in 2017, providing expert residential and commercial tree maintenance services throughout East Anglia. On the journey alongside owner Michael Lomax since day one is an FSI B22, which continues to handle every stump removal job with effective, reliable results week in, week out. With a large portfolio of domestic clients and commercial contracts including the Ministry of Defence and several large landowners throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Northamptonshire, no two weeks are ever the same for Michael and his team. One thing the team can always rely on is the performance of their FSI B22, which has been their go-to solution for stump removal in restricted-access, residential settings for the last eight years. “It’s incredibly versatile and easy to use, making it a popular choice with the team” Michael explains. “Being self-propelled means we can send one van, equipped with a chipper and the FSI B22 stump grinder, and the team will have everything they need to get the job done. We must have clocked up close to 1000 hours with this machine and, with the exception of the regular wear and tear replacements, we’ve had next to no issues.” He emphasises, “The reliability of this machine has been extraordinary. We must have made our money back on it ten-fold over the years!” The robust performance of FSI is not limited to the smaller jobs however. For larger domestic and commercial projects Michael turns to his local FSI Partner Stag Machinery, where he readily hires the powerful yet highly manoeuvrable FSI D30. “There’s not a lot the FSI D30 can’t do! We can tackle up to 120 two-foot stumps in a day, making it very productive and highly efficient. Not only that but the lighter footprint of this machine compared to others in this category means we can still transport the unit over residential lawns, patios and other sensitive areas if needed without risk of causing damage.” Like many, Michael not only values the reliable performance of his equipment, but the back-up support and service received from their local FSI dealer. “Will at Stag has been brilliant, delivering a personal service and a quick response if we need anything. We like the fact the depot is local, and the ability to hire the FSI D30 as and when we need it means we can run our business and service the various needs of our clients, without the headache of managing and maintaining a really large fleet of our own.”

There was a time, when I lived a more "nomadic" lifestyle and lived in a Thames 15cwt van, traveled around to find very varied work, and lived on what I could trade, poach, or even find dead on the road, with a little imagination, or just plain hunger,,, a squirrel or two was a decent meal, perfectly edible, yes a little effort to prepare for not much meat, but better than no meal at all. soaked in brine, for a few hours before cooking improves most game, squirrel is no exception.
  9. I don't dream of using tech stuff, nor do I use tools, machines, drive, sail, fish, hunt, etc etc I used statins for the first time 15 or so years ago and I had awful dreams and nightmares (and a few other side effects) until I changed them for the second time.
  10. Hi - Update: 2 roles. 1. An experienced climber with an interest in passing skills onto others, and undertaking hi-end technical jobs when required. Ideally 1 day a week but would consider a couple of days a fortnight or a small block every month. Role would probably end up being 50% doing bigger stuff (we have other operatives to do this work as well) and 50% developing other climbers, whether alongside in tree or from ground (more likely). There maybe an opportunity for the right person who is looking to get into a training role in the future. Get in touch to discuss further as role will be designed around candidate to a degree. Rates negotiable. 2. Qualified Climber looking at developing into a crew leader role. Ideally would want someone to be capable of medium size crown reduction / capable of rigging medium sized tree (60ft). Passionate about Arboriculture and driven to improve. 5 days a week. email to contact: [email protected]
  11. Wish you fast and full recovery! Sadly there in Ireland very hard to get help before you are in critical situation , even if you ready to pay big cash still … delays!

  15. Tide in at lunch so afternoon stroll along Charmouth beach with the old folk. Think I got to take a couple of calls about work too! Exploring a couple of job opportunities. Vat of curry to be made later for the old folks freezer. Did a large lasagne last night and they both had seconds which is a good sign.this followed by a couple of beers at Perry Street Club while the traditional local skittles teams played. Enjoy the day safely. Sin, Cos, Whim.

  18. Hi all thanks for all your appreciated replies. I have a Husqvarna 550 XP mk 2 great saw, was wondering if there is bit lighter saw to use to cut the crooked cordwood, as at 74 the mind is more willing than the body😉
  19. Yes I did it. Little screws to come out but it is possible. Found the same battery on ebay delivered from China. I had a problem where one set wouldn't charge so I thought it was the battery but it wasn't in the end. Cant find the picture of the battery to save my life!

  22. Nice work Stephen, thirty years ago all the old boys would bleat on about how tracks and trees didn’t work, how things have changed.🤙 Bob
