  2. “Ours is not to reason why, ours is just to do or die” What are you, the hedge police? Its a nice neat hedge, impressive size and now it looks bang on.
  3. Good Morning All.
  4. Yep it seems that way! I don't get why Stihl would do this as they've been making this chain for many years - the onyl reason I can think of now one makes anything similar so they feel why not.

  7. Winching trees that don't have anywhere to go. I am starting to appreciate the power of this winch, to create it's own space. 20250516_095409.mp4
  8. Exactly, sadly. its bonkers. There is a local charity that take in broken pallets and fix them. They have bits left over, all virgin untreated timber, but they can’t give to someone like me with out the EA getting involved.
  9. This has been my thinking. Combi seems useful for the versatility but I’m guessing purpose built would be a lot better

    ArbDogs? Pics!

Sailor’s been pretty bloody good recently. Usual annoying babe under my feet but recall etc has never been better. Walking tighter, not bursting off so far and so quickly. Asserting himself with the geese more and hassling the chickens less. Often herds usefully. To what do I attribute this advance? My deep understanding of the canine psyche? Doubtful. My ruthless attention to routine? Err. No. Savage beatings and round thrashings? Sadly not. He hasn’t needed any. My calm demeanour, reassuring consistency and patient husbanding? Some of that. Inherent maturity (he’s 2.5 now)? Probably helping. Basically I’ve stopped walking him. Instead of 1-3 hour sorties in the countryside, we pod around the garden and do a 500m lap of the fell (becoming his territory) on the way in and out. He’s not cabin feverish or obviously missing it and approaches domestic activity with the same enthusiasm he did for the outside world. So that’s a result. IMG_5461.MOV

  12. Do you actually think the average American give two shiny shites what Springsteen and his lovey liberal ilk think ?. If they listened, Taylor Swift would have swung the election wouldn't she!. Your grifter is unhappy Donald is the Boss for a second time, a real boss that's actually doing something instead of winging instead of crying on tick-tock.
  13. I would say yes. I get a lot more machines in for repair that have carb issues these days. Although, a lot of the machines are either stihl blowers which ive covered on another thread or machines that have haven't been used for approx 6 months. I think that a switch to super unleaded or whatever the equivalent is of E5 might be worth doing. Its not a massive increase in price of the daily costs but it could be worth it in the long run.
  14. What do you need to cut? A good option is a Fiskars UPX86 or the £85 screwfix Magnusson pole pruner. 4M reach, very light, telescopic pruner for small stuff and a saw blade for thicker. Similar price but the Fiskars you have to buy the saw seperately. I have a Makita split shaft unit with the EY403MP pole saw head and extension. It works quite well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B096VSN6SW Do you have any power tool brands battery system? Most of them do a pole pruning chainsaw. I also have a cheapy engine milti tool kit with pole saw. The saw works finenbut the 52cc engine is very heavy. The 25cc or 35cc version would be much better for this.
  15. I am no fan of Starmer or Macron, but on this occasion I think it was just a tissue and a stirrer.
  16. Well call me next @#+¥ing year then! Jesus H Christ, You have to leave your own house, drive to theirs, knock on the door, act all nicey nicey, talk to them for however long, all in the hope of securing a day or twos work. Yesterday I drove 40 minutes to what sounded like a promising job. They were nice enough (the couple) the job was two small medium ash over a septic tank, piece of piss. I pointed out a 3/4 dead cedar right next to the house. I said if you want to spend money on trees, that’d where I’d start. She says no initially, then asks if I could just leave the trunk and cut every branch to a foot or so (still attached to the trunk) so it looked like a giant heated hair roller (she thought it would look like modern art) I said no, that’s stupid, I won’t do that. Anyway half an hour later, I secure a days work doing the ash. Funnily enough it was a water mill very near a chateau where I worked for an American couple years ago. A few bits and bobs the main job was a single big Leylandii removal. We parked the chipper and truck next to it first thing and whilst filling the saws the husband appears and without a hint of embarrassment asks if we can do the other stuff first as the wife wants some alone time with the tree to say her goodbyes! I said no way. Sometimes I think line clearance sounds nice, no public, just head down and go. Then I remember I’m usually drinking tea on the sofa by 2.30. Swings and roundabouts etc.

Looking for anybody with a stroke processor for hire or sale? Thanks
  18. I think Difflock is from Northern Ireland, so maybe for them a hot dry summer is a rarity.

  21. I have a 240 I took the drain plug out 2 years ago with no problems (probably never been out before that) put in a new compression washer and refitted the plug with no problems. A couple of months ago noticed another leak and this time the internal part in the tank now spins. I had hoped to get another tank but they are no longer available from Timberwolf. Did you get any further with your leak?

  23. Bolam has written most eruditely on the subject recently. Along the lines of you retire it from climbing because it can’t be trusted to support a 100kg man and the next thing you know it’s catching 400kg lumps over a £20,000 conservatory.
