  2. Morning all, Wet here to start, drying later. Trimming Laurel hedges today. Boring, but regular work for decent customer, so I’m happy with that.

  5. I would cut that off. If your actually going to use it,just make a removable socket for it and keep it on the wagon. I have a big winch on the front of my mog,I wouldn't want any pointless liability on it
  6. You are supposed to carry a national ID here if you are not a citizen. It's really a way to identify those not in the country legally by burdening anyone who is. I have never in 17 years been asked for mine apart from when I pass immigration at the Airport.Which is the only time I ever carry it,since my drivers licence, hse card, firearms licence etc is always in my wallet. The Police can detain you until they establish your immigration status which they can do with any of the above other forms of IDso it's pointless

  8. He doesn't even drink alcohol, so that might be something of a stretch of the imagination
  9. I'd guess you have the previous DUC150? This UC029 has only been released this week and very few shops seem to be stocking it. The power has increased consdierably, doubled, on this one. Guard should be coming off first thing for any competent chainsaw user.
  10. If its assembled correctly it shouldnt be loose. A bottle of loctite is your friend. While my above advice on the bearing collar is worth looking at, also check that the feed roller is correctly located, the shaft has a dimple for the grub screw to locate in. You dont want the grub screw to bite into the plain shaft as it will also marr it up and make it a pain to extract in future.
  11. That will be idential to this in different colours, amazon or ebay may have the same saw from about £50 delivered. 25.4cc JonCutter G2500 Top Handle Arborist Gasoline Chainsaw Power Head With Saw Chain and Guide Bar from China manufacturer - Farmertec WWW.FARMERTEC.COM 25.4cc JonCutter G2500 Top Handle Arborist Gasoline Chainsaw Power Head With Saw Chain and Guide Bar... Currently I would say the Makita UC002/UC003 is very hard to beat for ~£210-270. You'll need to also spend 70 for a 2.5ah battery and 50 for a charger, but a second 4ah battery will be with you in a month. Not quite the power of a 201 but it runs a 12" bar no problem. ThenI highly recommend the UC006 hedger and Ux001 split shaft power unit, each with a free battery.
  12. Thanks for that, I’ll check that out tomorrow once I get back.
  13. My apple trees are the most unloved trees in west Wales, and still they produce more apples than i can deal with. I spend quite alot of my working life pruning apple trees, and not one of these 'looked after' trees produces as much fruit as my unloved trees .
  14. I'm on a 4 day week with Wednesday's being quotes and tool fettling. Come September the apprentice will be fettling whilst I quote I do occasionally work a 5 day week but the extra effort required often impacts on my weekends energy reserves.

  17. Fair point, it is something residents are looking into.
  18. Three of my four new additions from the British Hen Welfare Trust. settled in very well and prolific egg layers. Not shy at all - were obviously well looked after and handled to be so tame

  20. *** Don't know what happened here, but duplicate post, sorry. *** Thanks. This caused me to look back at the records from when we bought the house. There's a copy of the Land Registry document which clearly shows that the ditch, and therefore the tree, is outside our boundary. I'll still be treading gently but nothing is likely to happen this week.
  21. It still is, it has got to about 7m now, each time I see signs of dieback I prune it out. The tree has a lot of leaf damage and some of the branches have been ring barked by something, wasps I think. Interesting question about the allelopathic nature of walnut, I'll have to research it, I was vaguely aware but did not consider it. Now I will have to mind it, as I have planted it alongside a purple spotted orchid I dug up from an extraction ride 30 years ago and it has flowered ever since in the little clod of clay soil I brought it home. it's inside a pot topped up with my sandy garden soil and I have dug in a bit below normal surface . Anyway I'm sure you got the point that life is a continuation and when things go wrong at least a new generation can carry on the genes.
  22. Hi Scott, Seen your post know it was from a while ago. I'm trying to get into subbying just doing weekends to start, got plenty off experience doing it for 10 years, if need a hand let me know cheers much appreciated Sam
  23. I thought no one really did hedges due to the nesting season which ends Sept, the problem is are clients prepared to wait that long? But this seems a new law or amendment to existing laws ....
