Morning guys, Iβve got the lurgie! 1 of the lads had it last week and it gradually floored him. Itβs jumped onto me now, sore throat yesterday and coughing and snot this morning. Digger and robo on my own today so hopefully the fresh air or warm cab will help. If the fresh air doesnβt ill Robo from the cab π Plenty of cold and flu capsules and throat sweets and a flask of coffee. Have a good 1.

You still dragging this out lad ffs. Iβm pretty sure I tried but I recollect βyouβ telling me what I actually meant. Listen if you want to make assumptions and make 2+2=5 which you and a few others on here are fond of thatβs your issue not mine. Werenβt you actually at one point telling me what Iβd meant to have said πππ€·ββοΈ if thatβs not arrogance I donβt know what is. Anyway looks like you want to keep having a go at that steep hill so crack on.

You will void your warranty with Rock apparently, but imo itβs well worth doing. The two-handed thing is a proper ballache. IMG_0320.mov

Thanks for all the replies. It all sounds positive for the Loncin. Thanks Mark for your extra insight on that model - did you fabricate the single handle yourself or is there a retrofit kit available?

Alder, any market other than biomass?
Alan Smith replied to Johnpl315's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
Firstly, that is a hell of a bowl. Well done to Mrs Ed. Presumably not her first go on a lathe. As far as the mahogany comment is concerned, genuine mahogany is Swietenia macrophylla, still the most desirable and arguably the only proper mahogany but there are other members of the mahogany family that are similar and passed off as mahogany. But further, other timbers such as African mahogany, Khaya sp. are sold as mahogany when they really are not. Going further timbers such as Sapele and Utile or often sold as mahogany substitutes. As for spalting, you just need to turn your back and Alder will spalt. -
Considering Hayter (a premium brand manufacturer) have decided to now fit Loncin engines to their flagship Harrier 56 range, then, yes I agree with others, they are pretty good. We haven't had many issues....we are a dealer for Hayter, so we would know as we have to do warranty. The Hayter engine in the pic is branded as a GTS engine, but it is a Locin engine. Loncins are good value for the money yes. Don't expect old school Honda quality, but for the saving they're a great little engine.

Thanks for the replies. I have had the saw since 2017, maybe even before then, it was newly purchased. I had a 441. Went to replace it and a 461 was not much more so went with that. I have put some hours on it out felling and ringing up timber over the years. The saw to me doesn't strike me as low on compression but has always taken a decent number of pulls before it would fire. One thing that knarks me off is that this saw picks up sawdust around the air filter like crazy, compared to my 550xp where I hardly ever need to.clean the air filter out. I do.notice that fine dust can get past the air filter where the filter mates against the case, always thought it should have a better seal. I doubt I have ever been at the carb adjustment screws so maybe it does need some adjustment. As for fuel left in it. It was a saw that used to go out fairly frequently but certainly the last year it has had some periods of rest. So that certainly could be an issue. My 066 is in a similar boat with even longer periods, that takes a number of pulls to get going but chugs through the lumber at a sedate pace, two saws that are not setting the world ablaze.
