  2. Yes, for the second time around in UK the number of stations has dwindled, I had a V8 LR110 which I converted and ran from about 1998 till I stopped contracting in 2009, I could drive home from 3 directions and pass a filling station, all three are gone and I wouldn't know where to fill up now. It worked well for me as the cost of the vehicle and conversion was about half what a lr 110 tdi of the same age (1990) would have cost and it had a fraction of the miles (actually km) on the odometer. It did 14mpg on LPG ( I meant to fit high compression pistons which would have increased this efficiency but never got around tuit) and 19 on petrol whereas the tdi would have done 25mpg. The kicker was that the diesel needed an oil change every 6k miles but the on lpg the lube only needed changing at 20k and even then the oil was still golden. I seldom worked more than 20 miles from home so didn't clock up many miles, 80k IIRC, but as the range on lpg was only 150 miles it needed a couple of fill ups a week.
  3. Japanese have work trousers like that Tobizubon Work Trousers WWW.NIWAKI.COM Marvellously baggy work pants from Toraichi, king of workwear in Japan
  4. Rotatech, great value and cheapest on eBay.
  5. These are very light and would suit his build, they’re like MC Hammer pants. https://honeybros.com/shop/ppe-clothing/kiyari-type-a-class-1-chainsaw-trousers-one-size/
  6. There is an O ring that gives up on the distribution blocks pressure relief valve that can cause a sudden loss of flow. Quick and easy thing to check. Bob

    Iveco LPG

Seems LPG use has declined & now nearly gone extinct in UK. But seems a good sytem that makes sense Might be handy if france has ULEZ? (Paris is supposedly banning diesel etc in 2025 might other cities follow?) This says its still growing but maybe is PR? Autogas market continues historic growth in France - auto-gas.net AUTO-GAS.NET Autogas keeps expanding in France as 4,528 new LPG-powered vehicles were registered in January 2023, compared to 2,939... & only 4000 is still very small percentage of new vechicles? No good of all the LRG gas stations are gradually closed down esp 5yrs time etc.
  8. Cloggers without a doubt are the least warm of any saw trousers but as stubby says are not ce marked…. And bloody expensive!

  10. I've used Stihl SynthPlus recently and am running low, is there any real difference between that and something like the Silerhook linked here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverhook-SHCR5-Chainsaw-4-54-Litres/dp/B00YTPOAKS/ref=sr_1_4?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Gcxuld6Xth1IbAmW56AaweTdLVKqEPBkFtuccDxqJjh_rDqezrR0kooIix705HSYGl4LmMxm4SDyLP-MkKRKtNDLKTHmnOyyO5kuYarrSDShvuIFPwwrnRdX1S5bL7JgURyon25WNA-RrshFPFFH-2AAk-4x3vI1NJXah2K7fOPe2Rv8VN6ANDRpLBvNGpaUVL9oZ799mRQ9bkGGfqxwFZbsAjX5lSlcwMSZ1uiR8uc.MEJWde8FiVstavG0juq2oE1Q2F1_doRVvm4Wd8relBU&dib_tag=se&keywords=chainsaw%2Boil&qid=1719048446&rdc=1&sr=8-4&th=1 One of the reviews the guy was saying this is "thin" and getting thrown off the chain meaning he used about double the amount so was a false economy buying it. What's people thoughts on the best budget oil / bang for the buck which gives decent protection?
  11. Hi there, i have a 2020 tw160 with 62 hours from new. The rollers seem to have hardly any power so will take small twiggy sort of bits but anything bigger the rollers will sort of just jam and so just seems they have no power. Would anyone know what this could be?

  15. Next week's story will be we've crushed the lot after cataloguing, due to the original owners dying of old age.
  16. Morning. Or lunch break more like. Sadly it was raining at 2am and hasn't done much else since. Yesterday I baked my bean. Today I'm soaking it. British weather... 😁 Have a safe one.
  17. That report was from early May. The BBC is today reporting the same find. One major difference is that the May report valued the tools at £500,000 and today's BBC report values the tools at £1,000,000. That's inflation for yer! Tool thefts: Kent Police recovers goods worth more than £1m WWW.BBC.CO.UK Kent Police says it has finished cataloguing a haul of more than 3,500 tools.
  18. Annual updates from this moment onwards then. Is it too late to add a poll? Lovely woodwork, but I think the box let's it down a little as well. Would you ever build one out of wood to carry on the theme? Swiss chalet style, or something.
  19. That's the best way to do it: stones and soil for wooden posts, (or hardcore better still), rammed in hard hard, and concrete for concrete posts. Wooden posts concreted in invariably rot in a narrow band at ground level. Two inches above is fine, two inches below is fine, it's just that interface where you've got water and air present.
  20. Morning all, Another good day here. As Mick says, seems to be getting busier again now. Who knows what causes these fluctuations in demand for arb work? Nor me for sure.
  21. Good morning Arbtalkers and happy Saturday 😊 Enjoy the weekend 👍
  22. For buildings they seem to set the posts on stones with a locating spike or galvanised saddles but I have examples of sweet chestnut and oak heartwood posts that have survived 40 years in this sandy soil, not set in concrete though, just back rammed with stones and soil.
  23. They'll eat smaller, weaker, or slightly-injured live chickens too, if the mood takes them.
  24. Happy Saturday folks, longest lie in 2 months, it was the latest night to be fare, 11pm I believe! Dry with some blue sky on the way. Going to steam clean the new to me mog trailer and get some hoses and gremlins fixed. Have a good day.
  25. I'm with you Mick . All day long bud ! 🙂
