  1. Past hour
  2. Very difficult to buy secondhand I have plenty of people who would like my avant or Cormidi they would never see the market These machines retail 25 to 40000 new, they turn up every day don’t go sick, are never late, and don’t require more money once you have bought them, it’s very possible to hire implements for them you don’t use very often, especially if you have a relationship with a good dealer, At £40.000 they I believe are cheap labour, less than you will pay for a man over two years and you get the residual value buy a new one you will then know it’s history if your interested in a Cormidi speak to Andy Elliott DJB machinery Ashbourne
  3. Highly unlikely unless it was near full power back in the day and now has some trick delrin parts and a decent higher rated mainspring. What is it...Meteor, Mercury or Airsporter?
  4. I decided not to use resin so used wood glue and the fine sawdust from the sanding. Seemed to work. So my wife has put at least half a dozen coats of Tung oil. How should we finish it off or is that ok. Does it need sealing with something or left to breathe?
  5. Would that be the YPVS👍
  6. At the old folks in Devon so batching a Lasagne.
  7. trouble with pedestrian 'walk behind' grinders the engine is getting further from level the deeper you grind. Ebay sometimes has some Raycos and Carltons 'new engine fitted' A 350cc two stroke liquid cooled grinder using a Yamaha RD350 lump
  8. Today
  9. Bolognese made with Turkey mince. We've got a glut of Basil, hence the heavy garnish. Turkey is underrated and under used I think. Having slices of dry old breast meat just once a year is silly. The thigh is much better and versatile; minced or diced it's a good substitute for pork or beef.
  10. The fact you can balls up a Honda makes me wonder whether we should all have a bit more sympathy with Briggs and Stratton.
  11. You were still at school in 86 ? Pull the other one 😉
  12. My friend did it all. He sent off the slab to another guy who planed it AFAIK. Cracks were filled with a clear resin and then some oil or coating. Sorry I don’t know the full details, I just saw the table at his house and it looked great.
  13. I changed the carb when I did the head gasket. I've just had another go at the valves and run it up again. Runs better but not perfect plus the oil seems to have burnt off. Now, like a muppet, I stripped the thread of the valve cover so it won't seal. It's off the my local machine shop to get that sorted tomorrow. If I'm lucky they might even tune it for me. These things really should have been taught at school in 1986, I might have paid some attention !
  14. Can you take me through the whole process. What saw did you cut the slab with, how did you plane it and sand it and what oils did you use and how did you apply the oils/ varnish and how many coats My wife has ordered some squarer legs and I will post a piccy if they look ok And did you fill the cracks or just leave them
  15. Do you reckon a 50 year old BSA177 needs a chronograph? I always thought a chronograph was a posh watch!
  16. Best Chinese copies of everyone else's hard work and innovation!
  17. I use them all the time now, makes life sooo nice, didn't use them on the course had enough to worry about. Just put the rope through the right hole first🙂
  18. So I take it there is no longer a leak in the head, which is good. It doesn't sound too bad to be honest. Yes incorrect valve adjustment could cause those backfires and loss of power - loose valves don't seal properly allowing unburnt fuel in when it shouldn't. Also you mentioned a dirty carb, this could mess with the fuel mix and cause backfires.
  19. See very few around second hand. People tend to hang on to them.
  20. 😜
  21. Compact Loaders UK, Frank Alviti @Dave Alviti and Will at Stag Machinery at Dereham are probably all worth a phone call.
  22. Mr Ben said he liked you too Rich . 🙂
  23. Yes they all worked for Ken until he went racing full time and we all started fires with tyres ;-(. at least the racing ones were softer ant less wire?? Ken's brothers were still in the trade in the Shere area circa 1987
  24. Ditto Straightforward
  25. I've managed to get it running until hot, helps if you remember to refill the tank Dufus... It was spluttering oil out of the exhaust briefly until it seemed to burn off and now exhaust smell has much improved. Is the spluttering and back firing caused by the valves needing adjusting properly? VID_20250812_171453.mp4
  26. Ted used a truckload of Ken Tyrrell's old racing tyres to light a bonfire at a site we were clearing in Byfleet, I ran and hid.I could see the smoke from New Haw.
  27. Sounds about right, the Pineapples on their shirts had me smirking.
