Shame (in a sense) you can’t buy Defender kits. Save some labour cost on them. Unless it actually makes it more expensive by being a picking and packing nightmare. I can’t see Amazon leaping to partner with them.

I was involved with the design of an oak framed house on the West coast of Scotland, almost 20 years ago. Largest (new) oak framed project in Scotland at the time apparently. The frame was designed, fabricated and erected by one of the well known English companies who had a yard in Scotland. All the oak came from France and in those days I believe that was quite normal as there was a reliable supply of straight, knot free logs. Not sure if it’s the same now. But I also know of smaller one off projects, fabricated by ‘local’ specialists using local timber and not necessarily oak. So that is a feasible way forwards. Maybe see if there are any people qualified as visual timber graders as they may know the sawmills to go to. Andrew

The thing is landrover was unique and could be specd to order, that was the amazing thing about it ,the is no other brand u can do that with , thats what landrover missed out on, now u have a heap of shit that resembles a freelander that isn't worth wank, Years ago I had a lr built to order , cost 30k in 2001, along came a townie and offered 80k ... I should have sold it to him but didn't.

Morning all, Rain forecast, but sky looks ok. Hopefully putting the hedge cutter on the compact tractor and doing local job. Yesterday I took a 4 cu metre load of wet heavy chippings to a customer. Hydraulic hose failed when I operated the tipper. Came home, dragged the chip out with the digger, hose now off and got to get one made today. Keep buggering on.

Is it just covered in rubber? I do think all all the boots are bloody overpriced. £150 would be more like it, especially as they only last a year!

Rain, rain and more rain. Painfully slow work wise, so no hardship finding maintenance and indoor pursuits today. Might be a glimmer of light, re. the repair of the grinder. Going down this morning to the repairers for a discussion.

Morning, bit colder but dry. On fire this morning, washing on, peace’s made and sitting having a cooked breakfast. Finished the 1km of Rhoddy bashing yesterday, so heading out to find the robo in the moor in 1 direction to take it 1 hour north to dress the job up, smash up all the wee dead wood and detritus you find under huge rhodies. Have a good 1
