Have you tried this bit of the site? https://arbtalk.co.uk/recycling/ I wouldn't recommend woodchip to get rid of weeds though. Not in the long term at least. They'll work for a couple years, if in a sufficiently thick layer, but as soon as they start to rot and breakdown they'll just form fertile new soil for weeds to grow in. Better to use an inorganic mulch like chippings or slate. Or just accept that there'll always be weeds and remove them as and when they get too much, and certainly before they set seed.

Just to iterate getting the tap in dead square is crucial.

Couple of years back, started my long dormant 090 at home, then to show Jase and Raf at GreenMech then to the buyer the next day. Next day, I couldn't hold knife in that hand! Was a few days before grip returned too. That thing was heavy and powerful - even with eardefenders was noisy too! No wonder my ears sing all the time! Must re-rubber the 880 and move that on too! Anyone know how to decode the number to give it an age? Reckon this was new in 1997 and I worked at GreenMech for 27 years! It cut up a sycamore butt and couple of oak butt since!

I think it would be more telling to know how many chains have been run on that spur sprocket.

Just above joint and a slope cut, good work should shot from joint.

You've not said what it's off, I'm guessing a top handle saw as they tend to just get sharpened in situ.

If no one is in you’re welcome to leave over/behind the front hedge please. Thank you.

Lad I knew did that 10 yrs ago cut his thumb off, tried to sew it back on not successful though, now got half a thumb, was a proper job. Used to use felco battery ones in the late 90's just when they came out, doing a couple of thousand orchard trees each year.

Care needed but you can helicoil them without stripping the engine but care with where the piston is, grease and stuffing the cylinder is all part of it as is using the compressor airline with the exhaust port only slightly open is all important.

This one has me stumped. Tree crown is around 10-15 metres in height and spread. Not a lot of photos as I was slightly distracted by the Naturists in the garden and didn’t want to give them the wrong idea. No matter what time of day it is, why are they always playing lawn tennis?

If you’re doing a lot of flail work get a tractor much quicker

Does anyone on here run a eurocomach/case/new Holland machine, specifically with a flail? I’m pricing a 2.7 ton with the continuous flow option as I intend it to do a lot of flailing. And some grab work. Just after people’s opinions on them as there aren’t many about. Also I’ve requested a standard arm rather than long arm due to stack height with a grab and rotator. Now I’m thinking I should get a long arm as I’ll get more reach to with the flail. Will the long arm make much difference in my lifting capacity or am I overthinking it? Thanks

Just buy the Oregon or stihl can, with the Stihl spouts. Throw the husky one in the bin.

Everything that has cutting chain is easier to keep in sharp cutting condition. Hedge blades could be inconvinient to clean, lubricate and sharpen on regular basis (and it takes more skill). I limit number of tools i use in one day of work. Bring only the tools i will be using the most.

Hi, I am looking for free wood chips to spread across my garden, I am tired of weeds and I think this will help me get rid of weeds. Does anyone know where can I get free wood chips for my garden?

I like how light and out the way the Protos coms are, only really need one ear anyway. Overall I’ve been happy with those, though I can see advantages to the pro coms. Like proper hearing protection.

Too feckin' late now I bought one pretty amazing when you consider they likely all come from the same ting tong factory?

It's also an option for branches with the blade I indicated. A couple of folk have been grateful for that suggestion. I've just cleared what felt like half a mile of eight year old mainly volunteer thorn regrowth from a dyke bank with that outfit. I did use it with the blade in the air at times, and not on the floor. Don't know if that breaks safety guidelines. Re damage, that blade, while not indestructible, is very resistant to damage, and basically only needs a round file to give it a quick sharpen. I've never had problems with wire, as it cuts straight through every one I've ever met. Re Kombi tools, you are undoubtedly correct that a dedicated machine will be better, but will also be far costlier, and my pockets are shallow. To press, I've never damaged a drive system on one, except the bevel gears on a hedgecutter.
