  1. Red admirals out in force today in the sunshine.
  2. Fascinating detail. What equipment do you need (along with probably a lot of skill) to create those?
  3. One of the funnels I believe, possibly trooping by the looks of the troop of mushrooms that were there.
  4. Hi Rob, yes quite a number of times through the business.
  5. I see what you mean. Chlorophylum rhacodes. Will check the stem.
  6. Some small groups of these fantastic guys were under Cedrus Atlantica. Parasol mushroom. Macrolepiota procera. I’m assuming.
  7. Thanks Rob. I’m saving up for that 64” bar you have in the window to go on an 881 when Santa comes. In the meantime it’s great to have you there for the milling and chainsaw bits. [emoji106]
  8. Is this the rosy bonnet? Mycena rosea. lovely colour it was.
  9. Normally cuts like that are best done when it starts getting cold. However it doesn't really seem to get very cold in winter these days. Potentially best to leave it till the leaves drop at least so the sap is not flowing up the tree. Best not to do it on a wet day due to the fungal spores in the air. Others might have better direction for you. The straps on the cane seem to be rubbing the bark off in places. Best to remove it if its well established in the tub.
  10. You could cut it out and see what happens, unfortunately you might have to keep repeating the removal of the stronger shoot as it regrows. It’s similar with variegated varieties where the plant tries or does revert to it’s original state and the only way to stop that from occurring is to continue to remove the shoots. Make sure to not to damage the graft point any further. In other words, don’t cut below the graft otherwise that will cause all manner of further problems.
  11. I would say there are two points to look at. First is that it is a cultivated sycamore. Potentially that extra strong shoot is the original sycamore tree pushing through a damaged graft point. Or as sycamore does generally shoot up like that when young, it is just the natural habit. It would depend on whether the big shoot has different leaves to the rest of the tree. Have you looked to see if the leaves are different on it?
  12. Crickey that's a bigun. That size must be quite a few hundred years I would imagine surely.....
  13. Got the mill out for the first time in many months. Dropped a fairly big dead ash last week. Milling it up now. A nice straight 40 feet to mill up.
  14. Yeah the estate I work on and have done for 20 years. Haven't ever seen one myself. However this year I have seen 3 photos of hedgehogs that people have seen on the site in the evening. So things are looking up for the hogs.
  15. Lucky you. Sightings here are few and far between.
  16. Indeed. Nice place Heathfield. Worked there for a few months some years back.
  17. Other side of Ashdown Forest nr East Grinstead.
  18. 6 minutes. That's going some. 9-10 cuts in 3 hours. That is also impressive. Good to know.
