What are they going for with battery and charger. Looks good, how does it compare to the new echo battery top handle, any idea?
  2. Use of spell checker probably from a foreign translation. Oops [emoji51]
  3. Looks like its been dead a while. How long has it been dead, do you know? as @Khriss has said it could be the grey squirrel problem, removing the live tissue, but looks a little more like its been dead a while and now the bark is falling off the tree. What is happening around the roots? could they have been dug up, or has the tree been sat in a water so the roots can't breathe and the tree died. The tree is dead so not too much to do, but hope your mystery does get solved.
  4. Sorry to jump in here boys. Just wondering if anyone has or has used one of these little chippers? Crytec Terminator 15hp Road Towable Petrol Wood Chipper Shredder Mulcher My antique greenmech needs a fair bit of work and I need something for bits and pieces around the site. When I can't chip, I make piles of brash out the back of a field and let it rot down (over many years). But on occasion I need chip for paths and things so a small chipper will be handy. Someone earlier was talking about the geotech which looks like it could also be good for such stuff, but if anyone has an input on this one. Would be happy to hear it. Obviously I would much prefer a 20k chipper, that isn't going to happen this side of Christmas. Not sobbing, just saying.
  5. I wouldn't expect this last winter to be the problem as you probably know, trees show symptoms over more time, unless they are mechanically damaged. Acer also do prefer more shade under a canopy, so harsh sun can cause problems. Otherwise I think those who have already said their bit know a lot more than I. But I would say the soil could also be too rich and too moist. From what I can see in the pictures. Hope that helps a bit.

    Walnut

Nice. Haven’t had a chance to mill up any walnut myself. But it looks great. Don’t get much where I am. Good luck with it! [emoji106]

Lovely colours in that. Did you do the boards at 40mm for a special purpose? Just wondering. [emoji106]
  8. Very tidy. Cracking colours on that Elm.
  9. Thats a decent size swarm there.
  10. What sort of price on those?
  11. P. wallichiana has 3 needles and can be fairly fragile looking. But the length of those needles seems longer than usual.

Oh absolutely 92cc will be far better for milling. Just saying..... I think it is important to help people get into milling without having to spend their lives savings to get going, having the milling experience is a great thing. I started with an eco mill and a 365 with a 28 inch bar, then upgraded to a 36" lo pro, milled up a load of big sweet chestnut and other stuff, then got the 92cc saws which certainly made it all that more exciting and then got a 48" lo pro. One day I will be able to afford a panther mill, until then, got lots of sticks to mill up.

Don't want to make anyone wrong here, but I have run a 36" lo pro on a husky 365, did fairly well. Bit slower than a 92cc saw, but it did mill well.

Much smaller than the 365? Similar spec no?

Looks good. How much did that set you back? What’s the weight like? If you don’t mind me asking Gary.
  17. wet and grey this morning. Then bright blue sky and sunshine!!!
  18. Cheers Gary, yes everything seems a bit later than normal here. I reckon its the long cold spell we've had. Goslings haven't hatched yet and orchard trees are coming in to flower now which is pretty late.
  19. Not necessary all spring related, but a few recent photos taken in spring.
  20. I get that fairly often on the milling bars. Regular dressing. bearing in mind that when milling you are flat out for as long as needed to get through the whole log and that is a lot more wearing than cross cuts. Additionally even when the chain is on tight it still manages to stretch when it gets hot so its doing some moving during the milling process. And as above you are potentially dealing with more dirt and grit during milling. In my humble opinion that's what I would think does it. Although I could be completely wrong and potentially talking a lot of balderdash.
  21. Nice, do you make cladding with the band saw? Can you? Have you made the whole bike shed from timber you milled? Might be silly questions. Haven't used a bandsaw mill, so wouldn't know. But at some stage later in life, I'm sure I will be investing in one (maybe in the next year or so...).
  22. It’s a corker! Who took the photos?
  23. Nice straight beech carried on with it.
