  1. and not to be forgotten, the old mallards.
  2. This little robin was pretty content while I watched him in the woods. Kept posing for me.
  3. Egyptian geese have taken a liking to our pond.
  4. Got cold again here after a pretty warm day. Lots of water drinking had to be done during the day...
  5. Yep great boots for landscaping work. Once worn in, very comfortable with a decent pair of boot socks.
  6. Superb Job Gary. I would love to come and learn that technique one day or many days. Got miles of hedging to sort out. [emoji106]
  7. There are many a hedge layer on here who have hundreds of years more experience than I though.
  8. The trees you want to keep are the ones you want to mature and become ancient. You want to keep them in their maiden form. The others would probably be best coppiced and let grow up to then be laid later on. Also don’t forget about protecting the regrowth from deer.
  9. I would agree with woody on that concept. Behind the fence, keep some hedgerow trees, the better condition and better for biodiversity types such as oak, etc.... So you have a hedgerow with hedgerow trees in it, in years to come it will be a thing of beauty.
  10. I think you would need a battery multi tool for that. I know ego do a battery multi tool. Makita also. Not sure about husky or stihl Ego MHCC1002E Multi Tool Set - Multi-Tools - CleanStore WWW.CLEANSTORE.CO.UK Ego MHCC1002E Multi Tool Set 56v cordless multi-tool, 2.5Ah battery, rapid charger, hedge trimmer & pole saw attachments Ego's MHCC1002E Multi-Tool kit is a great place to start if you&rsquore lookin
  11. I would imagine people like that are probably high on drugs or lots of alcohol or both and off their head. No excuse for that really. Having fun is one thing, but being destructive to society is another thing entirely. One Friday evening many years ago I was on my way to a party. A car was in a ditch in a very nice neighbourhood. The guy in the car was off his head on cocaine. A bag of which he looked like he had in the boot. He got out the car. Took all of his things including the bag of cocaine and left before the cops could get there. Unbelievable people. Drugs are ruining society along with many other things. But drugs is a big problem. One New Years eve on the way home a guy had run his car through a wire fence near our reservoir, he was very drunk and probably on drugs by the way he was acting. He hadn't particularly damaged the car, but either way. Not good.
  12. I've got the 530iPT5 which gets you up about 5 metres and is incredibly useful. Its better than any petrol ones I have used and it cuts through big old branches.... about 10" and probably more, haven't measured the largest ones I've cut but its big. A panther bar on that would be a good idea indeed. Probably the longer the better, it cuts great and hardly uses any battery really with the big husky batteries. I'm pretty sure it's got the 1/4" drive sprocket.
  13. We would like the chip tipped after the top field entrance at the North end of the Saint Hill Manor estate. There is a red/white barrier (about 150 yards up from the East Grinstead cricket club entrance towards rockwood park) which lifts up and then about 50 yards in front of that the chip can be put there. Sorry for the long explanation but trying to make it easy for everyone. Best is to text or call me prior to the drop off so I can show you the best spot. We can take a fair amount of wood chip. We accept clean woodchip for use on woodland paths and for use as mulch or compost. We accept long sections of cordwood for milling purposes or fencing, so depending on species and lengths and diameter of cordwood, we will accept. However as we already have a a lot of timber on site we don't need more firewood, sorry for any inconvenience. Happy to discuss if you are trying to offload some nice sections of cordwood. Feel free to call or text.
  14. The winter cold has arrived this evening. After a very very mild few days of the new year. Get the long johns on before its too late!
  15. What oil are you using? I think if you leave most chainsaws with oil in them, then some oil is going to leak from them from somewhere. How high is your oiler setting, as in, how much oil is coming out of the saw when you are using it?
  16. Chainsawbars selector for chainsaw guide bars, chains and sprockets WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Using our unique Chainsawbars Selector, select your chainsaw make, model and bar size for results. Then click a bar for...
  17. Quite different with a lo pro bar and chain though. 64cc powerhead should do 36" lo pro. Might not be the fastest, but with a husky 365 and 36" lo pro bar, I've milled up a good bit of beech, lime, ash and others. Obviously a bigger saw is bettter.
  18. The more power, the better really when milling. Depending on if you intend to do a bit of milling in the future. You might be able to get a lo pro bar and milling chain to put onto your 391 which will give you the option of a longer bar and better chain for milling. I have used a 36" milling bar and chain lo pro from Rob D on a Husky 365 and did quite a bit of milling with that before I got into bigger stuff with bigger saws. But with a 36" bar you will probably be able to mill up a lot of the stuff you will want. Its a whole new world into chainsaw milling IMO. Good luck!
  19. The mill itself for the chainsaws are all quite similar in function apart from the panther which seems to be top of the line. What chainsaw and what bar are you using? One can get quite into milling the minute you find out how much fun it is to mill up timber and then realise it could be an endless hobby.
  20. We replaced the belts and battery last year. But I believe the starter has gone again, however it seems the ring gear needs some work as that might be the issue to resolve. Here are a few photos of the antique.
  21. Yes it’s nearly prehistoric, the engine when running is pretty good. But it needs someone that could give it an overhaul to make it worth their while. I don’t have the time or resource to do that. On the mower thanks. It was a bad eBay purchase that ended up being a waste of money. It’s a robust machine but again would need someone with time and want to repair it. Spent almost 3k on it to find it was buggered and couldn’t return it. The seller was a proper dodger. It wasn’t me that bought it but now it’s sat on site taking up space, so hoping to shift it.
  22. Following up on this old thread. I don't see me being able to get the time to spend to get this old beast up and working properly, or if it is in fact even wothwhile for that matter. Anyone on here have any idea if it is worth trying to sell it on or send it off to the scrap yard? It hasn't worked for a good few months now and is sitting in our car park. So I would rather sell it to someone who could repair it and use it, or being as it really is pretty old.... Any helpful suggestions would be good. For that matter I've also got to get rid of an old Kubota outfront 4X4 mower with collector, engine is buggered, but the deck on it is good. I was hoping to get rid of both of these for some sort of money. they are both pretty antique and gathering dust.
  23. That is a massive mushroom by the way. Thought I should mention that. Crikey its a bigun.
  24. Thank you for that. Well that is quite interesting indeed. How does the Fakopp do compared to Picus, have you had experience with both? I mean from the image it looks like it does a pretty decent job.
